I was busy this week earning a living. To do that, I had to buy gasoline on Tuesday, I paid $7.59.9/gallon. I then drove to Nevada for business.
In Nevada, I had to fill up again to get home, so yesterday, in Carson City, I paid $5.99.9/gallon.
Then in a moment of boredom, I was scrolling through my Twitter feed, and saw a post from California’s version of that tin horn dictator from Panama, Manuel Noriega, who we all know to be Gavin Newsom. The man that I refer to as an Arrogant Lazy Authoritarian in Charge (ALAIC) Newsom posted a complaint about the high gas prices, and said, basically, “it’s not my fault, it is the fault of greedy oil companies.” ALAIC Newsom was once again trying to distract voters by creating a new boogey man. Yes, he said, I have been the dictator of California for the last four years. Yes, nothing happens in California unless I say so, but, he says, “high gas prices are not my fault.”
The same “greedy oil companies” who charge the people of the state of Nevada $1.60/gallon less for gasoline. Do you think, that, if they are that greedy, they would be charging everyone across the country the same amount? Except they are not. ALAIC Newsom, in the midst of an re-election campaign, is trying to distract voters. “Pay No Attention to me, it’s someone else’s fault.”
No, it isn’t. It’s his fault. He’s in charge, he is the one costing Californians so much money.
At the same time, he called for an increase in the taxes on oil companies. In what universe does an increase in taxes on oil companies result in lower gas prices? That call for taxes is nothing more than a distraction for his failed policy on energy in California.
Another thing he is doing to distract voters is he is sending them income tax rebate checks one month before the election. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take the money, although I might not get it because I am not an illegal alien, but the fact is this is one of the most egregious acts of political opportunism I have ever seen. Another distraction.
Finally, if you haven’t been following it, California is on the brink of a major shortfall in revenue that is going to result in a deficit of epic proportions. So-called budget “experts” (the same experts that 10 months ago were saying we would have surpluses for the foreseeable future) have been hinting that there is an emerging problem, but neither the media, nor anyone who could head off the problem, is doing anything about it. We will not hear another word about it until after the election. And, of course, that will not be ALAIC Newsom’s fault either. It will be your fault because you are not paying enough taxes.
ALAIC Newsom has continued to blame the Governors of Florida and Texas for the problems of this country, blame oil companies for high gas prices, blame the supply chain crisis, high grocery prices, high housing prices, homelessness, traffic and other transportation problems, and the increasing crime rate on everyone except himself. “It’s not my fault,” he will say, even though he has acted as a virtual dictator for most of his time as Governor.
California gets the government it deserves.
