Yesterday we broke the news here on the FlashReport that longtime GOP activist and leader Steve Baric was running for Vice Chairman of the California Republican Party. Baric’s decision to run came right on the heels of the announcement that CRP Treasurer Keith Carlson, who had been seeking the party’s #2 post, had instead decided to look at a run for the State Assembly in 2012.
Steve Baric is well respected in the California GOP for being both a thoughtful leader, but also a strong conservative voice. Baric is currently the President of the California Republican Lawyers Association, and is the elected Secretary of the CRP.
Today Steve will formally announce his candidacy, and in doing so, will release a list of Republican Assemblymembers who have endorsed him (look for a rollout of Senators, County Chairmen and more in coming days).
Not to steal Baric’s thunder, but because his is my neighbor (our families live just minutes apart in the small Orange County community of Rancho Santa Margarita) I was able to put a cup to his living room window and overhear him listing out his Assembly endorsers — very impressive that in one day, he already has over two-thirds of that caucus…
Assembly Republicans who have endorsed Steve as of last night include: Anthony Adams, Joel Anderson, Bill Berryhill, Connie Conway, Chuck Devore, Ted Gaines, Curt Hagman, Diane Harkey, Danny Gilmore, Jean Fuller, Kevin Jeffries, Steve Knight, Dan Logue, Jeff Miller, Jim Neilsen, Brian Nestande, Chris Norby, Cameron Smyth, Audra Strickland and Van Tran.
It sounds like a few more Assembly GOP endorsers are in process as well… I’ll keep FR readers posted on Steve’s progress. His election is an important one for the future of the CRP!
If you want to endorse Steve, or reach out to him, you can do so via the FR here.

Endorsed by Anthony Adams?
This is worse than coming out of the bathroom and walking back on to the convention speakers’ platform with toilet paper still stuck on the botom of your shoes.
Might as well turn your pants inside out for greater emphasis.
I would not vote for anyone running for anything who was endorsed by Anthony Adams. That is the kiss of death..why embrace it?
Why hold it out as a good thing?
Endorsed by Anthony Adams. End of story.
