Asm. Jeff Miller: Big Team Effort Will Elect Joel Anderson To The State Senate

Assemblyman Jeff Miller is an endorser and supporter of (very) longtime FR friend and Assemblyman Joel Anderson’s campaign for State Senate.  Anderson is running for the seat currently held by Senate Republican Leader Dennis Hollingsworth, who is retiring at the end of this year.  Last week, Miller brought a group of folks down to help Anderson with get-out-the-vote activities…

Big Team Effort Will Elect Joel Anderson To The State Senate
By Assemblyman Jeff Miller

Last year, when my Assembly Republican colleagues asked me to serve as the Elections Chairman for the Caucus, I pledged that we would campaign aggressively at the grassroots level and energize our efforts in the field.  The leader who first approached me about the post – Sam Blakeslee – and our current leader who asked me to continue this work – Martin Garrick – have the same perspective and are both dedicated to winning the right way.

At a time when campaigns and elections seem to begin and end with expensive television ads, the fact is there is still one tried and true way to communicate directly with voters and win their support: walking precincts.  And while every successful candidate walks precincts for themselves, there really is nothing like going door-to-door for a friend.  And when your friend is Joel Anderson, it’s a no-brainer.

Along with Sam Oh and Esther Shin from my office, that’s what we did over the weekend in San Diego, helping Joel win a crucial election in the 36th State Senate District.  In every way, he’s the authentic conservative in the race.

What an experience!  Everywhere we walked, enthusiastic Republicans told us they are ready to win and rallying behind Joel.  They realize what’s at stake in this and other elections and we heard again and again about the need for new leaders in Sacramento.  That’s why Joel is running ahead and I think is on his way to a solid win.

Team Anderson also has an impressive field operation in place, the volunteers are motivated and there is genuine enthusiasm in the district.  To date, Joel’s grassroots team has walked 10,125 houses and called more than 2,000 high-propensity GOP voters with volunteer phone banks.  In addition, they have more than 600 signed endorsement cards of voters and elected officials pledging their support to Assemblyman Anderson.

I was proud to spend the day in the field for Joel and excited about this year’s elections.  It may be true that Republicans haven’t had a whole lot to get excited about lately, but I’m sure of one thing: 2010 is going to be a lot different.
