The ranks of Inland Empire representation in the Assembly’s Republican leadership grew considerably today. Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy announced the appointment of three new Republican Whips, including Inland Empire legislators Bill Emmerson of Redlands (pictured right) and Bob Huff of Diamond Bar (who represents the City of Chino Hills in San Bernardino County). They join Roger Niello of Fair Oaks as the newest members of McCarthy’s leadership team.
Emmerson and Huff (pictured right) have quickly risen through the ranks of their freshman class, which is important in the era of term limits. They have both proven to be team players who have the ability to work with both sides of the aisle while advancing their own legislative agenda and articulating the ideals of the Republican Party.
McCarthy, a Bakersfield resident who represents a portion of Northwestern San Bernardino County, said he strongly values the "leadership abilities and communications skills" of the new whips.
Caucus Chairman Russ Bogh also represents a good portion of San Bernardino County, including the cities of Yucaipa and Twentynine Palms. Bogh and Emmerson represent portions of Riverside County as well.
