I just received a press release from Jim Nygren the veteran consultant who is guiding the efforts of Assemblywoman Lynn Daucher’s candidacy for State Senate in the 34th District, in Central Orange County. Incumbent Democrat Joe Dunn is term-limited out, and focused GOP registration efforts have made this into a competitive district.
The release says that:
"Senator Johnson and I have looked at the 34th Senate district and concluded that the strongest possible candidate to win in November is Assemblywoman Lynn Daucher," Brulte stressed.
"No other potential candidate comes close to the experience and dedication that Lynn Daucher epitomizes," Johnson emphasized. "She would be an outstanding addition to the State Senate and would provide representation which would reflect the people of Central Orange County."
"I have personally known and worked with Lynn Daucher for more than 20 years,² continued Johnson, who was one of Orange County¹s longest-serving elected officials. "Lynn is a principled person who has spent years helping her constituents in Orange County."
"We are committed to the election of Lynn Daucher to the State Senate, and our endorsement represents only the first step in assisting Lynn¹s election," concluded Johnson and Brulte, who are long-time Republican leaders and elected officials.
Well, the gauntlet has been firmly thrown down in the face of the ‘Van Tran Exploratory Effort.’ The overt endorsement of the State Senate Republican Leader is a big feather (not that I am discounting the former Senators, but…). Based on my previous conversation with Ackerman, he had not formally endorsed in this race. But Nygren is not a sophomore in this business, so if he says Ackerman is onboard officially, you can bank on it. We can expect this race to really amp up over the coming weeks as Daucher and Tran each seek to establish their credibility in this competitive seat.
