NFIB Polls Over 21,000 Members — Comes Out Against 1A

The National Federation of Independent Business – California, a major player in California politics, and the hands-down grassroots representative in Sacramento for small business owners, has come out strongly against Proposition 1A.

According to the NFIB-CA, In order to determine support or opposition to Proposition 1A, they balloted more than 21,000 members during the month of April. Of those who responded, the majority were in opposition to Proposition 1A. The content of the ballot was developed based on information provided by both the support and opposition committees.

They have issued this statement:

Small business owners understandably scream “May Day” when it comes to increasing taxes in an already struggling economy,” said John Kabateck, NFIB/CA executive director. “When balloted, the more than 21,000 NFIB/CA members we represent made it clear that they oppose Proposition 1A and the concept of extending the tax increase as part of the most recent budgetRead More

Nehring’s Statement on the Specter of Republicans Past

CRP Chairman Ron Nehring Issues Statement On Sen. Arlen Specter’s Decision To Join The Democratic Party SACRAMENTO – California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring today issued the following statement in response to Sen. Arlen Specter’s decision to join the Democratic Party:

"Arlen Specter’s decision to join the Democratic Party has absolutely nothing to do with principles. This was a poll-driven decision based purely on selfish interests. Polls showed that because of his abandonment of basic Republican principles in the Senate, Arlen Specter, an incumbent United States Senator, could not even win his own Republican primary, nor win a general election as either a Republican or even as an independent.

"Arlen Specter decided on his own — no one forced him — to violate core Republican principles by voting for the wasteful $787 billion stimulus bill while every single House Republican, including California ‘s entire Republican delegation, voted with taxpayers in opposition… Read More

Specter Should Resign

Arlen Specter, elected as a Republican Senator in Pennsylvania, today switched his party registration to Democrat.

I can't say I am shocked, given his embrace of President Obama's hard-left policies.

That said, Specter should follow the principled lead of Phill Gramm. Before being elected to the Senate, Gramm (of Texas) was a Congressman. Elected as a Democrat to the House, he decided to become a Republican, inspired by Ronald Reagan. But he felt that to switch mid-term was unfair to voters. So he resigned his seat, then re-registered Republican, and then ran and was -re-elected in the subsequent special election…… Read More
