AD60 Republican Candidate Curt Hagman had a LA County based event, last night. In this sprawling three county district. You find out all kinds of things attending these types of events. I have not endorsed in this race. Note to other candidates: Throwing some free fried finger foods my way may get me to come to your event. Unfortunately, Hagman’s lacked guacamole—but that is another story. Mike Radlovic who just a couple months ago was planning on running spurred the event. In addition to the LA local officials mentioned in a previous blog, (See here) Leon Garcia, President of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water and Fred Chyr another Mt. The Sacramento Bee is reporting that a military reservist, Eric Egland, is seriously looking at running against Congressman John Doolittle in next year’s GOP primary in the 4th District. FR readers know that Doolittle has been at the center of controversy stemming from his wife Julie’s professional relationship with the now-imprisoned lobbyist-turned-crook Jack Abramoff, the Doolittle’s personal friendship with Abramoff, and the fact that in a rather public and high profile way, investigators with the FBI are looking very closely at the Abramoff/Doolittle connection (fairly recently a subpoena was served on the Doolittle home, where Julie has her home-office).

No on has accused either the Congressman or his wife of criminal wrongdoing. That said, when you are in elective office, and are seeking re-election, you aren’t in a court of law, but rather a court of public opinion. Given the poor publicity that Doolittle has received, and given the sour-taste in the mouths of voters from actual proven corruption on the Hill (Duke Cunningham, et.al), it is unclear whether the public will make a distinction between the convicted, and the accused, or… Read More

In California minors can’t get a tan at a tanningsalonwithout parental permission. That isn’t good enough for some legislators that have now voted to pass AB 105. AB 105 would prohibit teenagers from certain kinds of tanning, because apparently their parents are to stupid and/or don’t care for them like the nanny staters in the State Assembly do.

Three Republicans voted to save cheerleaders, the worldand other at risk teens from their parent’s permission to tan. (Cook, Emmerson he is a co-sponsor, and Horton) One Democrat to her credit voted no (Galgiani)

No word on when Cook, Emmerson, Horton or the Dems will prohibit teenagers from sunbathing at beaches or swimming pools.… Read More
