California GOP Ships $3 Million To Colorado/Nevada

A MEMO TO INTERESTED PARTIES FROM JON FLEISCHMAN, VICE CHAIRMAN, SOUTH, CALIFORNIA REPUBLICAN PARTY

The California Republican Party has raised, since February 2007, over $36 million dollars. I would like to congratulate CRP Chairman Ron Nehring, Team California Chairman Tony Russo, and the thousands of donors around California that have been responsible for such an outstanding financial turn-around for the State GOP. The days of being mired in nearly $5 million dollars in debt and loans from the overspending that took place during former Chairman Duf Sundheim’s administration are long over.

Today the California Republican Party announced that it has transferred $3 million dollars from its very full coffers to help boost the efforts of the Republican Parties of Colorado and Nevada, as they work to win electoral… Read More

Vote Yes on Prop. 11 – Custom Made For GOP Gain

As we approach the general election, I have to tell you that no vote that one of the most important votes that any conservative in this state can cast is a vote in support of Proposition 11.

By passing Proposition 11, Californians will be making it possible to add more conservatives to the legislature than ever before. That’s right – despite all of the rhetoric of misguided Prop. 11 supporters, who somehow believe that this measure will end partisanship in Sacramento – it will not. But what it will do is add more Republicans into the mix, giving us more votes to stop spending increases, tax increases and the growth in government that we have seen at the hands of the liberal Democrats who control the institution.

Ironically, a trip to the Yes on 11 website allows you to peruse quotes from officials of groups like theRead More

$500 Reward Offered by State GOP for info on Sign Stealers

You have to ask yourself what kind of LOSERS go out and steal campaign signs. Stealing signs is not only LAME, it is also a violation of law, and an infringement of the First Amendment rights of others. Well, the California Republican Party is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the LOSERS who you can see sign-stealing in this video… (Can you help finding the culprits? If so let me know.

Afternoon Reading

Two stories of note.

Over at Roll Call, this article shows that there may be a silver lining to a GOP rain cloud this year. More on the rain cloud.

Over at the Sacramento Bee’s Capitol Alert, the opponents to Prop. 11 have been caught in double-print (the written form of double-speak).… Read More

Assemblyman Mike Duvall supports Domestic Violence?

Democrat John MacMurray is hoping that a tsunami-sized Obama wave washes across California, and even into the very Republican 72nd Assembly District in Orange County.

MacMurray, the Democrat nominee facing off against incumbent Assemblyman Mike Duvall (pictured), has dropped a full color mailing (see links below to piece) where he bangs on the Republican for a host of "bad" votes, one of which implies that Duvall opposes "Domestic Violence Protection."

On one hand, you might say that it would have to be a terrible year, indeed, for a Republican in this VERY Republican seat to lose. Then again, some pundits are predicting a very bad year for the GOP. MacMurray is counting on it. That said, Duvall’s got deep pockets. Makes you wonder if, in this particular year, he’ll reach in a fund a few mailers. He is, after all, in the insurance business.

As a funny aside, this website… Read More

Tom McClintock’s Last Debate of Campaign Season

In the course of the race to fill the 4th Congressional District seat, I’ve attended several debates featuring Tom McClintock—both in the primary and the general elections. At each of these debates one fact is certainly confirmed; a fact that I’m sure many Californians familiar with McClintock would share: you can’t win a debate with Tom McClintock. Unfortunately for Democrat candidate Charlie Brown, the universal truth of one’s inability to best Tom McClintock’s debating skills was affirmed this evening at their final debate of the campaign. Appearing before a standing-room-only crowd at the Nevada County South Chamber event, both candidates commented that this was the best attended debate thus far in the general election.

Charlie Brown’s opening statement reiterated his campaign’s theme of his 26-year service in the United States Air Force. For those unfamiliar with the 4th Congressional District’s recent history, Charlie Brown challenged sitting Congressman John Doolittle in 2006 and came within just a few percentage points of ousting the incumbent. Focusing on Doolittle’s past connection to disgraced (and criminal) former lobbyist Jack Abramoff,… Read More

Today’s Commentary: Poizner Criss-Crosses California for GOP and Candidates

Last Friday I penned a column here on the FlashReport that focused on former eBay Chairman Meg Whitman, and the aggressive role that she is playing as a National Co-Chairman of the McCain for President Campaign. In that piece, I mentioned that Whitman is in the process of looking at a run for the Republican nomination for Governor in 2010.

Well, in a very clear sign that even though this year’s Presidential contest has yet to be resolved, many are already looking to 2010, since publishing my piece on Whitman, I have been literally barraged with e-mails from FR readers all around California letting me know that Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner has been out to their local community. In many instances, there have been glowing words of praise for Poizner as a candidate for Governor along with those e-mails.

After getting a… Read More
