Central Valley Is Ground Zero Tomorrow
We’ve been hearing all about the Harmer – McNerney race all year long, as very quietly, with a major assist from a Lincoln Club expose on Congressman Jim Costa’s left wing voter record, CD 20 challenger Andy Vidak, despite a 20 point voter registration advantage, has made his race one of the top upset districts in the country. Real Clear Politics now has CD 20 in the lean Republican column for the first time, as Hispanic voter turnout is expected to be lower than usual, and higher than usual for the Republican challenger.
Also in the Fresno area, our race for Country Supervisor featuring Lincoln Club backed Phil Larson against left wing, SEIU backed Cynthia Sterling is proving to be the most expensive Supervisor race in County history, with SEIU pouring in over $1.5 million to defeat Larson and shift the board from fiscally conservatiive to wholly owned by the unions. This is probably the most important election in our area Tuesday, and the Fresno Bee has… Read More
Big whopper lies from Sterling Clifford “The Liar” on Howard Jarvis
Jerry Brown spokesman Sterling Clifford "The Liar," issued a press release yesterday attacking Meg Whitman, Jon Coupal and the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers PAC for the PAC’s endorsement of Meg Whitman. Clifford, whose performance as Brown spokesman brings to mind Jon Lovitz’ character "Tommy The Liar Flanigan," claims Jarvis endorsed and voted for Jerry Brown in 1978. Well I was there, and Clifford is lying to you, again.
The fact is Brown was a semi-hysterical opponent of Prop. 13 in 1978. After Prop. 13 passed by a 2/3rds margin in the June primary election, Jarvis endorsed the Republican candidate for Governor and even cut a TV spot for him. But after that, Gray Davis, Brown’s chief of staff, made a greasy secret deal with the Jarvis organization consultants at the time (long gone they are now from HJTA) and a meeting was scheduled to be held in a Hollywood residence between Brown and Jarvis. Jarvis thought the meeting was to discuss Brown’s implementation of Prop. 13. But the consultants knew better. When Jarvis got to the residence, a private camera crew was already set… Read More

New Voter Fraud App Empowers Citizens
Anyone who works in politics understands the importance of having poll watchers and ballot observers. Particularly in close races, voter fraud can influence the outcome of an election. In the past few years, this has become a huge issue—especially with the revelation of rampant voter fraud at such organizations as ACORN. There was also that infamous video of Black Panther members engaging in voter intimidation in Philadelphia. With the advent of new media and the empowerment of citizen journalism, voters can expose any instances of fraud or intimidation and broadcast it to the public. That’s exactly the concept behind a new mobile phone app created by American Majority Action. The … Read More
In Case You Missed It: Strickland a Slam-Dunk Choice for Controller
The following opinion piece by Scott Wilk was featured in today’s Santa Clarita Valley Signal:
In 1994, I had the honor of serving as chief of staff in the state Assembly.
After exhaustively interviewing applicants for a vacant staff position, I received a call from a friend asking me to interview some kid named Anthony.
When the lanky young man stepped into my office, his smile brightened the room. His enthusiasm was immediately contagious.
Your Five Days Out Campaign Advice
Five days to go.Let’s face it, here are the only realistic scenarios:
1) You’re going to lose, and absolutely nothing you can feasibly do between now and next Tuesday is going to change that fact.
2) You’re going to win, and nothing your opponent does in the next five days will change that fact.
3) It’s close, and everything you do in the homestretch could have an impact on the outcome. Same for your opponent.
Hindsight in politics being the 20/20 thing that it is, you quite likely don’t know right now which one.So, that means you have to proceed as if it’s number three.
That means three words: Direct Voter Contact.
What are you doing to identify those voters that likely support you, and what are you doing to ensure they have already voted by mail or will vote on Tuesday?*
Simpler said than done, of course, but it really does just come down to that.
*Hint: Yard signs don’t achieve this goal. ###
