LittleBluePill.Com–The Dem’s Answer to Flashreport.org

How funny that the Dems were contemplating calling their version of the “Flashreport” “The Little Blue Pill. I’m not a huge Matrix fan (I’m a chick—I like romantic comedies), but my husband is, so I know that the blue pill is the pill that lets you live in a dream world and ignore reality. How fitting—that’s why Democrats believe that higher taxes are good for the economy; that handing out condoms to kids helps reduce teenage pregnancies; that the CTA really cares about education and not just about higher pay and more benefits for their members; that you can support the troops but not the troops’ mission….the list goes on.

But if Maviglio, Salazar and Kinney don’t like “The Little Blue Pill” name, here are a few other suggestions for them: LittlePurplePill.com (since everything the Democrats do give the rest of us heartburn). Or Fleshreport.org (in honor of Bill Clinton).Read More

What is closed?

Just left a message at Eatza Pizza in Baldwin Park. They are closed. Won’t eat there again. For the most part something is open if you need it. West Covina Auto Wash was closed. The next one down the street was open. That is now my new place. Senor Baja was closed. Have to get fish tacos across the street. This boycott is helping eleimnate places to patronize. Thank you. Traffic has been great as well!

Trisha Bowler from Diamond Bar says Denny’s is closed out there. The one of Puente and the 10 is open. So there is always an alternative.

What’s closed in your neck of the woods or has the liberal meda would say the redneck of the woods?… Read More

Hanretty, Alternative FlashReport

Today’s main page took a long time to put together today. So I won’t be penning a substantive commentary. But I would encourage readers to take the time to check out the columns that are featured on the main page today – there are quite a few. Especially the one penned by FR friend Karen Hanretty on the hypocrisy of Assembly Speaker Nunez! There is an interesting piece written by Bill Bradley on his New West Notes site talking about how three prominent Democratic operatives are working on putting up a left-wing ‘counter’ to the FlashReport. Anyways, have a great day, and please take the time to give me your feedback on the site – especially if there are issues you want covered, or particular folks you would like to see columns from, so I can ask them to contribute!

May 1 San Diego Rallies

Progress report on San Diego May 1 noon rallies. They were abject failures. You could fit the North County demonstrators in a Greyhound bus. The rally right on the border in San Ysidro may have had 2,500 people. One of my employees got some great photographs of the protestors taunting mounted American Border Patrol, which I’ll post in a bit.… Read More

CCR Convention – The Week That Was…

I am going to try and claim some of this day for myself, rather than penning a long Sunday column. I will take a moment to congratulate the California College Republicans for putting on a great convention here in Orange County, headlined by great speakers like Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Larry Elder, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore and…me? Actually, those other folks all spoke to the whole group — but I did get invited to come and speak yesterday at a panel looking at the Main Stream Media, and this impact of blogging (wonder why they would ask me to talk about that?). Anyways, my favorite part of the panel was actually the end — when incoming CCR Chairman Mason Harrison came into the room and, using a bullhorn (for real), ordered all college republicans out to the street for an impromptu (well, given the pre-painted signs, almost improptu) rally in support of the Governor. Congrats on a great event!

Sunday San Diego

Q&A With George Plescia… The SDUT, often known for doing these Sunday Insight section interviews with folks like presidential cabinet heads, national party leaders, governors and the like, focuses on the new Assembly Minority Leader. Good for the UT…and good for George!

Read the interview here.

Can I hope for a little more state legislative news coverage in the UT now, too?

The Juan Vargas-Insurance Co. Connection… Maybe the answer to my question above is reflected in another UT piece this morning, Lawmaker Vargas’ ties to insurers questioned. Adding to the UT’s recent string of… Read More

Court Ruling helps Rosemead recall… Maybe?

Today’s FlashReport has a story from the Los Angeles Times about the rescinding the mutli-language rule for recall petitions. Two of the three remaining pro Wal-Mart councilmembers have been under seige by union forces. They successfully sued to stop the recall election by using a ninth circuit ruling on the topic of recall petitions. Roles are reversed here with liberals wanting to excludemulti-language petitions and the Republican Jay Imperial arguing the other side. Politics is all local.See article here.

You can see background on the Rosemead recall and the original decision by clicking here and using the links there.… Read More
