I guess it’s almost time for us to just establish the "web ad of the day" feature here on the FlashReport. Today’s featured piece has been produced by the Poizner for Governor campaign, and it seeks to highlight the fact that while Meg Whitman has taken a pro "turn on the water" position in terms of the federal orders to keep water from being pumped from the delta in order to preserve the Delta Smelt, Whitman’s family foundation has apparently donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Environmental Defense Fund, which has as one of its priorities the preservation of said Delta Smelt.
Here is is the background data for the ad.
Jarrod Agen, of the Poizner campaign, also adds (this is lifted from his e-mail):
- In 2007 and 2008, Meg Whitman gave $300,000 to EDF’s Center for Rivers and Deltas. But in 2009, she’s pretending to support the Central Valley farmers.
- Earlier this year, Meg Whitman was a “huge fan” of Van Jones. But then a few months later she claims that she barely knew the man.
- This Spring, Meg Whitman said she’ll debate three times in the Fall. But then when Fall came, she said she won’t debate until next March.
- Meg Whitman claimed she didn’t vote as much as she should have. But then we find out that she’s barely voted ever in her life.
- Meg Whitman will go on radio shows, but demands that the questions be submitted in advance and the interviews be pre-recorded.
Oh, I should add that as web videos goes, this one really is not too impressive. But, an "A" for effort…

We should turn the water pipes on, and if farmers want to grow water hogging crops like cotton then let them pay extra money for that water.
100,000 acres of cotton farming equals half the water consumed by the city of Los Angeles.
We have a water shortage, we need to conserve, why not use recycled water for the cotton farming?
If farmers want to make money, grow water friendly crops and conserve water at the same time.
We are all suffering, water bills are going up year in and year out.
