It’s become clear that Democrat Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and new GOP House Majority Leader John Boehner already agree on one possibility for 2006 – the GOP majority is in jeopardy in November. Why would that be? The economy is good, if not great. Our Commander in Chief is fighting a tough war on terror. Two phenomenal Supreme Court Justices have been confirmed. Gerrymandering nationwide since the 2000 census has created safe seats for GOP House members. How could Republicans lose in November?
Add to the mix this fact – the Democrats are shrill, have no agenda, are consumed with rage and hatred and captive to their left flank.
The answer is this: Illegal Immigration. Spending. New Entitlement Programs. Fiscal Mismanagement and Debt. The Democrats won’t get the best of Republicans on these issues. No, not possible.
Republican voters will just stay home. They’ve had it and I am hearing it everywhere.
We have a two Party system for sure. Stupid, and Incompetent. No wonder voters are cynical. The Democrats are the Stupid Party, of course. The press can’t even print half of what Democrats actually say – a simple act of protection. If liberal media members are embarassed by rhetoric of the Angry Left imagine what voters are thinking. They have no agenda, no solutions, and no ability to effectively run any government. And yet, they are in the game this November. It’s almost unbelievable.
The Incompetent Party is the GOP. Our elected officials all claim the mantle of Reagan then vote the other way. We have a Republican Study Committee with 80 members that could dictate policy in the House by actually withholding their votes on dumb legislation, but they don’t do it. What substantial legislation has there been since the Bush tax rate cuts in 2002? Nothing. As a matter of fact, to appease the Beltway culture the majority of GOP House members continue to vote for legislation certainly outside of the Reagan Doctrine. I haven’t seen a good idea come out of California forever.
Faced with a choice between Stupid and Incompetent, it now become a race to see which Party will have the fewest voters stay home. Forget an energized electorate, they aren’t getting any red meat issues to fire them up.
The best I’ve ever seen the GOP was in 1993, right before the historic 1994 elections. Maybe we ought to taste the bitter pill of losing control so we can figure out what it means to lead again. Then again, maybe Majority Leader Boehner will go pull some tape of himself speaking in 1994 and decide that the GOP already has a playbook and needs to follow it again.

I think the GOP losing the House at this point is practically a fait accompli, espcially If the President gets his wish for an amnesty bill. There will be blood in the streets. No immigration bill would be better than passing amnesty.
