In 2004 I was a fellow for then Assemblyman, and now Congressman, Doug LaMalfa. My year as an Assembly Fellow led me down a path that ultimately led to running for office myself and I currently serve as the Assemblyman for California’s 3rd District. In that capacity I have been able to champion individual liberty, fiscal responsibility, and opportunity for all. Through it all I continue to rely on the connections made and lessons learned through the Assembly Fellowship.I highly recommend it as one of the most rewarding opportunities of which a young, aspiring conservative can take advantage. The invaluable information about public policy issues and the political legislative process helped develop my critical thinking and political skills.
Think about it. Why not cut your teeth in one of the most challenging political environments for conservatives. California needs strong, thoughtful, and creative leaders who want to make the Golden State the land of opportunity again. You can be part of showing how our principles and ideas can transform a stagnated, big government state. If you want to impact California, to influence state politics for free markets and ideas that provide true upward mobility for all then you need to join the Capital Fellows Programs.
Co-sponsored by the California Legislature, Governor’s office, Judicial Council, and CSU Sacramento, run through the Center for California State Studies, and ranked one of the top 10 internships in the nation, the Capital Fellows Programsoffer college graduates the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with California political leadership in Sacramento and across the state. Fellows also receive 6 units of graduate credit upon completion of the program that can be used towards a Master’s degree.
The Center for California State Studies administers four fellowship programs – one in the State Assembly, State Senate, Executive Branch, and Judicial Administration. Alumni of these quality programs can be found throughout state leadership and include judges, congressmen, state legislators, corporate executives, university professors, community leaders, and more.
