I am pleased to announce that today we the FlashReport Website on California Politics is launching FRMobile, a version of this website that is optimized for use with your Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). Whether you are using a Blackbery, iPhone, Treo, Palm, Q or other mobile platform, you will now be able to enjoy some of the main feature of the FlashReport with ease!
While not every aspect of the FlashReport is optimized on FR Mobile, we have placed FR’s most popular features there. When you go to the site with your PDA, you will get the FR main news page. There is even a toggle like on the regular FR so you can look to preview main news pages. At the top and bottom of the page are easy navigation links to read the FR Blog, our Daily Commentary or original Columns – all optimized for your PDA.
A reminder that while we can optimize our main page of links for viewing, we cannot optimize the sites to which we link – many of which will be very challenging to read on your PDA. Send a note to them, not to us ;-)
As an extra bonus for those of you with Blackberry PDA’s, we have had our programmers create a free Blackberry Application that you can download. When you do so, a FR logo will appear on your Blackberry menu, and by launching it, you’ll go straight to the mobile FR.
Oh yes – the URL for the FRMobile (which will look quite odd on your computer, but great on a PDA) is m.flashreport.org. Also, you will note that there is now a link to FRMobile right under the date bar at the top of the site.
In closing, we ask you to remember that while we have had a number of FR readers beta-test this new feature (thank you!) it is still new, and there may be glitches to work out.
