Today’s Commentary: E-mail Gaffe Shines Light On Mark Nuaimi – Conflict King?

When scanning political news stories from around California this morning, as I do each day, from time to time I come across something, or someone, worthy of special note, this time out the San Bernardino County Sun…

The City of Colton has about 175,000 residents, and you can find it on a map by sticking a pin right at the intersections of the 10 and 215 freeways.

Once upon a time Colton was the home of famous wild west frontiersman Wyatt Earp.  But for those who follow politics, I guess it is notable that in recent years, several members of the City Council have left office in scandals, and that the Mayor of this city, Kelly Chastain, is facing a recall on this June’s ballot.

Jon – you “missed the Mark” on this one.

I have worked with Nuaimi numerous times (including running his campaigns for Mayor), and yes, I am proud to have done so.

Mark took on incumbent Democrat Mayor David Eshelman, when no one thought he could win. He won because he showed a real passion and vision for his city.

Since then, Mark has been an effective an able Mayor for Fontana – helping develop new leaders; transforming the City Council from a squabbling sandlot to an effective, cohesive body; and bringing a new sense of pride and prosperity to a city once derisively referred to as “Fon-tucky.”

Most of the Colton issues you reference (including the recall) are a product of political maneuvers by Joe “I need to find my sons a job” Baca, rather than the slanted picture you painted.

And, unlike the state, Fontana is well managed and doesn’t have a monumental budget shortfall…so perhaps such ire is better directed at Legislators who accepted pay raises instead.

Nuaimi is passionate and opinionated, sometimes uses colorful metaphors, and is often pokes fun at his own stubbornness – but give me those qualities over the slick, milquetoast wafflers or the pontificating do-nothings any day.

Mark Nuaimi has been good for Fontana, good for local Republicans, good for taxpayers and a breath of fresh air for those tired of over-cautious politicians too scared to stand up for what they believe.

I will tell you he is good at one thing for sure – hiring great politican consultants. Tab’s one of the best.

Mark Nuaimi is good for Fontana and the gop? Hardly….

How can you be the leader of coltons illegal annexation attempt and be on LAFCO? Can anyone say conflict of interest???

And what about the second highest bond debt in the state? To the tune of $2.3 BILLION!!!! YES BILLION!!

If Nuaimi is the best the republican they can come up with, then I’m glad I have moved my political affiliation out of the gop.

This conservative no longer belongs to the new and unimproved democratic party….(aka-gop)
