As a former supporter of Rudy Giuliani, I’ve gravitated now to Governor Mitt Romney and have endorsed him as of today. First, my reasons for opposing McCain:
He’s a demagogue on the Bush tax cuts, which saved the post 9-11 economy, and uses class warfare rhetoric;
Wrote an amnesty bill and a completely unworkable overhaul of the immigration system;
Crafted an anti-free speech campaign finance bill, McCain Feingold;
Believes in "climate change", which is a fraud;
Opposes exploration for our OWN oil in ANWAR, while we finance terrorism in the Middle East and a fascist dictator in Venezuela with our oil purchases;
Doesn’t understand the economy or private industry;
Opposes legitimate means of interrogation in the war against terrorists;
He has not committed to select conservative judges to the federal bench;
In three decades of service in Congress, not one problem of importance has been fixed or addressed, especially with the looming disaster in Medicare and Social Security;

McCain has been very good on battlefield aspect in war against terrorists, the surge, earmarks, government spending, and the sanctity of life. I can live with his positions on these issues.
But you get ALL of the positives of McCain with Governor Romney, without the left of center issues espoused by McCain.
McCain may well be the GOP nominee in the fall, but not with my vote. Tuesday, I will cast my vote for Governor Mitt Romney for President.

Michael,
Thank you for some common sense here! I am so disappointed and upset that so many of our good, and some conservative Republicans who were supporting Rudy have now thrown their support behind McCain!
I couldn’t believe it when Rudy said of McCain:”He is a common sense conservative. He’s an American hero”! Common sense conservative?? McCain is anything BUT that!! A liberal comes to mind here!! A hero? Yes he is BUT that does not qualify him to be president! I personally think it’s distastful the McCain keeps using his “hero” status as a campaign strategy! At the CRP Convention when he showed his video I was thinking “Why does this qualify him to be president”? I am asking the same question now!
If I ever had any doubts before, I have none now after watching the Republican debate at the Ronald Reagan Library! Romney was clearly the better choice!!

Romney or McCain, I can see once again good conservatives falling into the trap voting for one of the guys who “can win”. Last time that mentality took we got Governor Schwarzenegger, and what a dream that has been.
How about voting for the guy who holds to our principles BEST? Ron Paul.

I’m confused on how Ron is amassing campaign funds, but spending none. Athought that’d be a great way to run our government compared to the past 25 yrs of mostly deficits, when is he going to unleash those funds on the campaign?
not that the campaign is over in a few days, but the nomination may well be decided if one candidate gets most of the winner take all states.
