Assisted Suicide is surely an emotional issue. AB 374 would allow doctors to help kill their patients. It has never passed in the legislature, but this year the Speaker is pulling out all the stops to pass it.
Why would a managed medical care group support killing patients? To save money!! Why give someone pain medication or treat depression when encouraging his or her early death is cheaper?

Your thought-provoking post immediately reminded me of
what a French philosopher wrote:
“A crowd will always gather to watch a man die, but how
many will gather to watch a man live?”
