With only two weeks to go, there is one issue the candidates for CRP office hardly seem to talk about and yet it affects every other aspect of what their ability to finish their campaign promises.
The CRP is in debt! Not just a little debt, but I’m told and have seen figures that amount to $4.6 million. This is unprecedented for the CRP. Yet, no one is really talking about it.
The CRP has clearly earned the "Biggest Party Debt Award". To give some perspective the RNC with all their spending ended $3 million debt. See here. It has now been paid off. When will the CRP’s?
A great presentation right before we vote for CRP offices should include the following for the members of the state CRP.
How much debt did the CRP incur?
How much has been paid off?
Did the Party’s Executive Committee, as provided for in the CRP Bylaws, authorize this debt?
Did the Board of Directors (even though they cannot authorize more than $100k of debt to go beyond the end of the Chairman’s term)?
How did we get a debt?
What controls were in place?
Was debt part of the plan?
What is the plan to pay it off?
Several CRP board members have sought or are rumored to be seeking appointments from the Governor. Please Governor; don’t appoint them to your Finance Department!
