Assemblyman Villines has so far done a great job in leading the Assembly Caucus. This announcement of the makeup of the Assembly GOP Leadership Team seems to be another solid step in the right direction.
ASSEMBLY REPUBLICAN LEADER MIKE VILLINES ANNOUNCES LEADERSHIP TEAM AND VICE-CHAIRS
SACRAMENTO – Assembly Republican Leader Mike Villines, of Clovis, today named a dynamic group of Assembly Republicans to serve as members of his leadership team and as committee vice-chairs for the 2007-08 legislative session. The new members of his leadership team represent a diverse array of backgrounds and communities.
“I am honored that such a respected group of Republican leaders from across California have agreed to serve our party as members of my leadership team,” Villines said. “I look forward to working with them as we set our legislative priorities and work to build a stronger California.”
The Republican Caucus Chair is the second-highest ranking Republican in the State Assembly, assisting the Leader in advancing the Republican policy agenda and achieving the Caucus’ political goals. Assistant Republican Leaders work with the Leader to focus and frame the debate, assisting in articulating the Caucus’ message and promoting policy.
Chief Republican Whips help devise legislative floor strategy and provide direction and guidance to the Republican Whips as they work to advance the Republican caucus position during Assembly floor sessions. Republican Whips keep track of legislation and ensure that Republican members are present when important measures are debated and voted upon on the Assembly floor.
Villines today named the following individuals to his leadership team:
Republican Caucus Chair:
Assemblyman Bob Huff, R-Diamond Bar
Assistant Republican Leaders:
Assemblyman Bill Emmerson, R-Redlands

Mike Villines is off to a great start and the leadership team is as good as any we have EVER seen…
BUT it is hard not to laugh at the idea of FIVE Assistant Republican Leaders, THREE Chief Whips, and FOUR Whips. This is reminiscent of those Third World countries that have hundreds and hundreds of Generals.
Perhaps Mr. Villines can find some good titles for the remaining members of the Assembly Republican Caucus? Here are a few good ideas:
– Caucus Co-Chairmen
– Caucus Vice Chairmen
– Deputy Whips
– Assistant Deputy Whips
– Caucus Janitor
