Just received a "FlashFax Alert" from Hedgecock producer Jimmy Valentine saying that Roger will endorse a candidate in the 50th CD special Friday on the radio. As close as this race will be, that’s big news.
Most polling — like it or not — is showing a statistical dead heat between Bilbray, Kaloogian and Eric Roach. Watchers are awaiting new polling data, and some are saying that Roach may have the momentum and stamina to pull this thing off. I can’t disagree…completely. However, new polling will tell if Brian’s counter-strikes are having any kind of negative impact on Howard and Roach.
Between the front runners, it has been assumed turnout and ground game will be the most significant deciders. Add to that list…Hedgecock.
Some may laff, but I say not quite so fast. Low turnout, large number of GOP contenders, close election…the radio Mayor of SD could swing this election…if he selects someone actually in the mix at this point.
Here’s the full missive from Jimmy V:

(sarcasm on)Has Brian Bilbray endorsed any more Democrats in the last few weeks? Just wondering because we don’t have enough Democrats running things here in CA(sarcasm off)

Roger has already endorsed Bilbray by his statements and obvious bias towards him… I’m sure Bilbray will again be allowed on the show to accept the endorsement and recite the rest of his local politial endorsements. Hedgecock is tied to Bilbray by more than just the Metabolife and Mexican sewage. Hedgecock should have disclosed to the canidates prior to having them on that he planned to endorse one of them at the conclusion—Hedgecock hasn’t played this one fair.

Roger has been VERY fair in giving every candidate an opportunity, which is more than you can say for most of the media.
With that said, I doubt he wants to give the Democrats an opportunity to steal this election by running against his friend who happens to be a lobbyist.

(sarcasm on) has Eric Roach decided whether he is actually going to VOTE for himself in this election or is he just going to pay someone 180 bucks to do it for him (sarcasm off).

Roger Hedgecock today actually endorsed Scott Turner for the 50th CD.
Scott is a former intern for Duncan Hunter who has made a positive impression
on many people with his optimism and humility.
He was a college football star in the Big 10 and later played in the NFL.
The odds are against him winning this time, but I hope this impressive
Black Republican will stay in politics and perhaps run
for local office.
BTW, he was a Cornerback, so you know he is mentally tough.

I think most of you are underestimating Bill Morrow. His Senate District covers most of the 50th. He also is an effective grass roots campaigner which will be invaluable on Tuesday.
