Today I sent a letter to members of the Legislature urging them to reject the Governor’s proposal to repeal enterprise zones.
In my letter I note that the proposal would be a nearly $1 billion jobs tax on California businesses in this year alone.
I also point out that the Legislature’s own lawyers have determined the Governor’s proposal is a tax increase requiring a 2/3rds vote.
As I’ve argued before, it makes no sense to eliminate enterprise zones – we should expand them instead. Better yet, we should make all of California an enterprise zone.
The Governor’s proposal will only make California’s high unemployment numbers and poor business climate worse. That’s the exact opposite of where we need to go.
