Free education… financial aid… student loans… low-cost auto insurance… free health care… free legal aid… California may be the Golden State, but not for legal residents and citizens. California’s more than three million illegal aliens are enjoying many benefits the state’s legal residents and taxpayers do not. And it comes at a very heavy financial burden — legal residents are not just paying for their own health care, rent, transportation, food and education, they are paying for illegal aliens’ as well.
The purpose of immigration laws is to serve our raison d’État – our national interest, or the “reason of State” of the United States – our country’s economic, military, and cultural goals and objectives. Contrary to the behavior of many politicians, the U.S. does not have unlimited resources. The multitude of illegal aliens flocking to the U.S. is damaging our raison d’État.
The United States has a colossal problem with illegal aliens. But the political left doesn’t like using the word “illegal,” so after President Obama was elected, leftists renamed illegal aliens “undocumented immigrants,” “Unaccompanied Alien Children,” and the newest term, “Central American Minors.”
Now, we are being told they really are “asylum seekers,” and “refugees.”
Obama Offers Free Transportation
The Obama administration is now offering free transportation to illegal aliens from Central America. Once in the states, these “asylum seekers” will be treated to a special refugee/parole program with “resettlement assistance” and permanent residency, according to Judicial Watch.
On the Bill O’Reilly Show last week, liberal mouthpiece Kirsten Powers said illegal aliens are merely “seeking asylum” in the U.S. “The kids should be given a hearing,” Powers said, “and then a judge can decide. I feel that any child who can make it to this country should be let in under the law, it would be great to get them out of dangerous situations. They’re seeking asylum!”
This is the new meme of the left.
Refugees or Illegal Aliens
The newly arrived “Central American Minors” will be granted special refugee parole, taxpayer-funded benefits including free education, welfare, food stamps, medical care and even living expenses.
“Specifically, the “program provides certain children in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras with a safe, legal, and orderly alternative to the dangerous journey that some children are undertaking to the United States,” according to a DHS memo obtained by Judicial Watch. “The document goes on to say that the CAM program has started accepting applications from ‘qualifying parents’ to bring their offspring under the age of 21 from El Salvador, Guatemala or Honduras.”
“I think many Americans are going to be surprised to learn that illegal aliens here in the United States are getting the Obama administration to go and get their children and fetch them,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch. “And all at our expense.”
“They are in the process of hiring 1,000 full-time staff to quickly approve applications for the president’s illegal amnesty, which will provide work permits, photo IDs, Social Security and Medicare to illegal immigrants — all benefits rejected by Congress,” U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., said recently. “This action will mean that American workers, their sons, their daughters, their parents, will now have to compete directly for jobs, wages, and benefits with millions of illegal immigrants.”
State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf has no idea what this will cost tax-paying Americans. “The price tag? I don’t know,” Harf said at a recent press conference.
California Lawmakers Coordinating Benefits For Illegal Aliens
“The same California legislators who helped get undocumented residents drivers licenses unveiled a package Tuesday of 10 bills that would also provide them with subsidized health care and other benefits, including protection from fraud and discrimination,” the Orange County Register said this week.
Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León, D-Los Angeles, a frequent author of bills benefitting illegal aliens, said the flurry of bills “unequivocally states California’s commitment to immigrants.”
Republican Senate Minority Leader Bob Huff, R-Diamond Bar, missed a golden opportunity to expose his leftist colleagues, and frankly embarrassed himself: “We understand the burdens facing immigrants who want to go to work and raise their families in safe neighborhoods, and the rationale behind these bills is admirable,” Huff said. “But without money from Congress and President Obama, it will be very difficult and costly for California taxpayers to fund all of these bill proposals.”
Coordinating Benefits for Illegal Immigrants – ‘Health Act for All’
Included in the Democrats bill package benefitting illegal aliens is Senate Bill 4 by State Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Los Angeles, proposing health coverage specifically for illegal aliens – not “all” as the bill title states.
Lara’s justification for SB 4 — “the Health Act for All” — is that the federal Affordable Care Act specifically excludes people living in the country illegally. “Access to health care is a human rights issue and until everyone is included, our work is unfinished,” said Lara.
And just as with the State Department’s Marie Harf, “De León could not say how the state would pay for the extended health care program,” the OCR reported.
Text from Lara’s bill explains in plain English: “This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature all Californians, regardless of immigration status, have access to affordable health coverage and care.
In a carefully coordinated effort, Lara reintroduced SB 4 almost immediately following President Barack Obama’s November 20, 2014 Executive Order providing amnesty to approximately 5 million illegal immigrants.
Lara has a second illegal immigration bill, which proposes to create the California Office for New Americans. Lara claims this new agency is for the purpose of helping illegal aliens integrate into the state. Lara said he wants to create the California Office of New Americans to “provide our undocumented population with resources, information, and fraud prevention assistance, helping them better integrate into the economic, social and political fabric of our state.”
Previous Illegal Alien Benefits Legislation
In 2013 Brown signed AB 60 by Assemblyman Luis Alejo, D-Salinas, allowing illegal aliens to obtain state drivers licenses.
There is also now access to a special low-cost auto insurance program to assist illegal aliens who apply for the new California driver’s license.
In 2011, Brown signed the California Dream Act by Assemblyman John Perez, D-Los Angeles, allowing illegal aliens in California colleges and universities access to state financial aid programs.
Last year Gov. Jerry Brown signed three more bills benefitting illegal aliens, all by Sen. Lara:
The State Dream Loan Program, also by Sen. Lara, authorizing $9.2 million for state universities to loan money to illegal alien students;
SB 1159, also by Sen. Lara, to allow illegal aliens to poly for professional licenses — law licenses, medical licenses, and the like;
Also authored by Sen. Lara, Gov. Brown signed SB 873 allocating $3 million to certain non-profit organizations to provide legal representation to illegal alien minors in deportation cases.
Brown also signed a bill to prohibit local law-enforcement officials from detaining immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally longer than necessary to resolve their cases for minor crimes so that federal immigration authorities can take custody of them.
