I kid you not. In an interview today, the President Pro Tem of the California State Senate announced that he’s willing to target budget cuts to GOP districts. In other words, he’s willing to hold hostage the citizens in these districts because their fiscally-responsible representatives aren’t willing to finance the irresponsible spending of the majority party.
Since Democrats are more than willing to keep raising taxes until there is literally nothing left in California, their constituents will continue to receive services. Ironic how those who are willing to frivolously spend money are the ones holding the purse strings, taking money from the productive members of society. Steinberg seems to believe that by targeting the budget cuts, citizens in the GOP districts won’t be educated enough to understand why services were cut (used as a pawn to raise taxes on everyone), only that their services were cut and their ire will be directed towards their own representative.
Steinberg went on to say, “You don’t want to pay for government, well then, you get less of it.” Senator Steinberg, it’s not that we don’t want to pay for government. In fact, we’re more than willing to pay for government. But we’re not willing to pay for million-dollar pensions, for a job-killing CARB, or for legislators’ vehicle allowances. None of those count as “government.” What you want is a limitless credit card financed by taxpayers. It doesn’t exist.
You have shown your true colors today. You and your cohorts are unwilling to address the rampant abuse and fraud in government. Instead, you protect the wasteful spending that’s created our monstrous debt all in order to keep your union special interests happy. You’re willing to punish the hardworking, law-abiding citizens in this state in order to continue the gravy train for unions and special interests. You should be ashamed.
Senator Bob Huff, Vice Chair of the Senate Budget Committee summed it up best when he responded with the following tweet: “@bobhuff99: “Steinberg considers cuts targeting GOP districts”. Well, heck then. Let’s just tax the Democrat districts!”
Exactly. If you want to take our taxes and redistribute them to your cronies for things that cannot be defined as true governance, then why on earth should we even be paying taxes? Pay for your own warped definition of government. The fiscally responsible Californians have had enough.
