AFP California Airs Radio Ads Opposing Governor’s Tax IncreasesGrassroots group begins campaign to educate citizens about attempts to increase taxes
Sacramento—Grassroots taxpayer advocacy organization Americans for Prosperity California kicks off the "Hold Them Accountable" campaign today airing radio ads calling on taxpayers to urge their legislators to oppose Governor Jerry Brown’s tax increases. Specifically, the ads will focus on Senators Tom Berryhill and Anthony Cannella, both Republicans who seem open to supporting the tax hikes. The ads are part of a media and ground campaign to educate and mobilize citizens in opposition to tax increases.

“Californians are already among the highest taxed citizens in the country,” stated State Director David Spady. “Yet Governor Brown and his legislative cohorts are cooking up a tax hike scheme that will be felt by every hardworking Californian. These legislators have the ability to stop this tax increase from going on the ballot, we expect them to protect taxpayers.”
“Governor Brown wants to impose the largest tax increase in California history,” explained State Chairman Peter Foy, who voices the radio ads. “As a group that stands up for taxpayers, we will do everything we can to oppose these terrible tax hikes. That includes holding accountable the legislators who may be coerced into raising taxes on their constituents. Someone has to speak for taxpayers, and Americans for Prosperity will do so.”

The Governor is trying to pass the largest tax increase in California history. These new taxes will significantly increase the taxes YOU pay every year.
To pass these new taxes, the Governor needs the approval of the state legislature.
That’s why we MUST hold our legislators accountable. They are the only thing standing between us and a NEW huge tax increase.
Please call Senators Tom Berryhill and Anthony Cannella today urge them to oppose this new tax increase. Unemployment in California is 12% but in the Central Valley the numbers are much, much higher. The last thing we can afford are more job killing tax increases.
Remind Senators Berryhill and Cannella that California isn’t suffering because of a lack of tax revenue, but from its spending addiction and wasteful government programs.
