Acting Worthy Ronald Reagan: Thirty Years Ago

Thirty years ago today, Ronald Reagan was sworn in as President of the United States of America. Take twenty minutes to hear or read the speech.

When you read the warnings on debt, freedom and of course Reagan’s declaration that,” government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.” Can you not think of our situation today?

And for those pundits that talk about the new normal of unemployment and economic decline should take note of Reagan’s insight.

"It is no coincidence that our present troubles parallel and are proportionate to the intervention and intrusion in our lives that result from unnecessary and excessive growth of government. It is time for us to realize that we’re too great a nation to limit ourselves to small dreams. We’re not, as some would have us believe, doomed to an inevitable decline.”

Reagan was right then and he is right now. Take a look and remember a great American. Then act worthy.

It must be fund raising and party time for the Republican country club crowd……trotting out Reagan.

Ronald Reagan…. not good enough for the Foghorn Leghorn of the ‘Flash Report’.

  3. soldsoon@aol.com Says:

Foghorn was a loudmouth schnook or something like that….Mel Blank was the voice….was he a “chicken” or was he a “rooster”.

Time will tell….he did have “spirit” though…

This is soooo strange. You and I both know that if we and Mike Spence got into the Way Back Machine and transported ourselves to 1966 that Mike would oppose Ronald Reagan with all his might.

  5. hoover@cts.com Says:

The GOP Governor primary in 1966 was between (1) Ronald Reagan and
    (2) former San Francisco Mayor George Christopher, a legitimate and
    unapologetic liberal Republican.

Las Vegas opens “Spence-for-Reagan” the -$9.50 favorite on that match-up.
