This just in from the Steve Cooley for Attorney General campaign. More bad news for the flagging campaign of looney-lefty San Francisco DA Kamela Harris… Significant to note the last line of this memo — the survey was not conducted (paid for) by Cooley’s campaign.

RE: Recent Polling on AG’s Race – Cooley Leads Harris 41% to 34%
DT: July 29, 2010
A recent poll shows Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley leads San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris by a margin of 41% to 34% in the California Attorney General’s race.
Cooley leads in LA County by 46% to 31%. Democratic statewide candidates usually win by running up their numbers in the Bay Area and Los Angeles County. Cooley’s 15-point lead in the state’s largest and normally-Democratic voting county is a significant hurdle for Harris.
Cooley also leads in every other California media market except San Francisco. For example, Cooley’s advantage over Harris in the San Diego media market is a stunning 49% to 17%.
The poll shows Cooley capturing 72% of the GOP vote to 10% for Harris while the Democratic Nominee leads Cooley only 52% to 21% among Democrats. The vote among DTS voters is tied between the two AG candidates, a favorable starting point for a GOP candidate.
Other particularly positive numbers for the Cooley campaign include a 45 to 31 lead among voters aged 51 to 65 and a 43 to 28 lead among those over 65.
This latest poll is in line with other public and private polls which show District Attorney Cooley ahead in the race to be the state’s chief law enforcement officer. It is unusual for a statewide Republican candidate in California to hold a lead so early in a general election campaign.
The poll was conducted by Hill Research Associates on July 10th-12th and based on interviews with 602 likely California voters. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 points. It was not conducted for the Cooley campaign.

Good news for Cooley!
Harris is too much for California’s appetite!

How does Cooley intend to attract the CA pro-gun vote? How will he differentiate himself from Harris on this subject – they both seem identical?
LA DA office has been terrible on gunrights – good ol’ folk have been charged with 100% BS charges and have to pay for bail/lawyers to stay nonfelon. The LA DA office has little knowledge of guns or CA gun laws, and good people have been put thru the wringer by Cooley’s office.
