A quick rundown of the 59th Assembly District GOP Candidates fundraising
In first is former City Councilman Chris Lancaster. Lancaster who has run before has raised and contributed himself over 160K. He is clearly the money leader. He is also the leader in endorsements having secured Dick Mountjoy, and Bob Huff. He also has endorsements from both parts of this vast district Lancaster is also the candidate that seems to have broken through in Sacramento. He also has support of most the public safety unions that have endorsed. Lancaster has bought more slates than anyone else and mailed more as well, but has only 6K on hand. Consultant is Chris Jones.
In Second is Claremont Mayor and former legislative staffer Corey Calaycay. His totals are 93K raised and he has the most COH of 42K. Calaycay has some slates and has done some mail He has a lot of endorsements from the LA County side of the district and the endorsements of the San Bernardino Sun and Inland Valley Bulletin.
In third is Hesperia School Board member Anthony Riley. Riley raised over 67K and has almost 17K on hand. Riley has done mail with consultant Steve Presson. Riley endorsements are mostly from the San Bernardino side of the district as wells as the committee to Recall Adams.
Ken Hunter, Tim Donnelly and Iver Bye didn’t rise of the 50K necessary to file. No matter how good your message you need money to get it out.
Riley and Lancaster have been hitting each other.
So here are the questions for the last week?
Will Calaycay spend the money (he loaned himself 50K)?
Does Lancaster have enough to get through the last week and did he overcome some of the issues that cost him four years ago?
How much of the Lancaster vs. Riley help Calaycay?
Does San Bernardino County still have enough of an operation to elect some one in this seat?
Stay tuned. For other posts on the seat start here.

Riley and Lancaster spent a fortune on mail hit pieces tearing each other to shreds with the truth about one another.
Calaycay failed to place a candidate statement in SB County. Word is getting out about his hidden Green agenda.
Donnelly’s exteremism limits his penetration and appeal in the district.False and exagerated statistics in his candidate statement did not help his cause.
Iver Bye- No candidate statement in either county. Front page Sun Newspaper article today about his being fired from D.A. office for misconduct. There goes 50 of his 300 votes.
Riley comes out of the closet with his pro homosexual agenda by his answers published in the Traditional Values Coalition Voter’s Guide that just came out district wide. Simply astonishing.
Lancaster’s positioning as the “establishment” candidate will turn off voters. One more hit piece from Riley and he is done.Especially if the next piece hits Lancaster on his FPPC fine for hiding the $8,000 he tool from another politician just days before voting on that politicians special interest project.
Lancaster’s stregth is his abundance of nice little stories to explain the multitude of his transgressions. If there is no book on that, perhaps he should write one. It may go Platinum fast.
Hunter keeps up his annoying proclaimation that he wants to return Prosperity to California and continues to work on his
“California Investment and Prosperity Act”.
Reducing Sales Tax to 5.5%, highest income tax to 5.5% and a 7 year budget cap at 2005 level of $85 Billion.
The fact that very few people desire the return of their prosperity does not help Hunter.
Hunter remains front runner with Lancaster and Donnelly tight for second place.

Just got the newest hit piece on Lancaster from Riley at the Post Office today. I guess he figured it out on his own. Now they can join each other in the toaster.
They killed each other in a political suicide pact and are both toast now.
At least all their union money went to good use.

Riley responded to questions by the Traditional Values Coalition that he “support(ed) gay marriage”, “repeal of Prop 8”, and “resolutions in favore of homosexual marriage” . When the answers were released, he told the SB Sun that his campaign manager incorrectly answered the question. On his website, he now states that he voted in favor of Prop 8.
Expect that Lancaster will e-bomb the High Desert with Riley’s answers that Riley is in favor of gay marriage and wants to repeal Prop 8.
Ken Hunter is against gay marriage and voted for Prop 8.

Interesting information in this story, but “the question” for voters in the 59th AD primary is who DESERVES to win. That would be Corey Calcaycay, the city councilman who has stood for fiscal conservatism in CLAREMONT for years. He has the guts and the background to stand up to the Sacramento gang as well. And doesn’t anyone wonder why Lancaster got those public-employee union endorsements?

As for Ken Hunter’s accusation that Calaycay has a “hidden green agenda,” I’ll assume that’s crap unless someone can refute me.
