CRA Statement on Maldonado Confirmation Vote

CRA Statement on Maldonado Confirmation Vote
The pending confirmation vote for Abel Maldonado as Lt. Governor is a sad day for California.  He has not exhibited the honor, integrity or principles that merit support for this position. A confirmation would provide a stark contrast of the disconnect between the elitists and the Tea Party movement.

Ken Mettler, president of the California Republican Assembly, stated that, “Maldonado represents everything that is wrong with the Republican Party and support for him will further encourage many voters to register decline-to-state.”

One would imagine that since the CRA does not speak out ahead of time on too many legislative votes that this one is very likely to end up being used in their 2010 Legislative Scorecard.

Arnold made this monster…so don’t look for anything less than kinky his last year in office…

The Ventura County Star reported that Pedro Nava (D) is leading an effort to not onfirm Maldonado and our local assembly person, Audra Strickland is planning on voting to confirm him. I thought the CRA supported her. I’m so confused! Does the CRA support Nava now and oppose Audra?

“Maldonado has been widely criticized by conservatives because of his decision to break ranks with other GOP lawmakers in approving a budget last year that included temporary tax increases. It is not certain he will enjoy universal support from fellow Republicans. Assemblywoman Audra Strickland, R-Moorpark, said Monday she intends to vote in favor of the confirmation if it comes before the floor.”

Conservatives win when they act like conservatives. Conservatives lose when people like Maldonado are elected as a Republican. Ken Mettler is correct.
