How often do you get to get pitched by an elected officer of the Republican Party to help elect the nominee of another political party to Congress?
Well, that’s what you are getting right here.
All eyes in the country are looking at a special election that will take place this Tuesday in upstate New York in the sprawling 23rd Congressional District. The incumbent Republican Member of Congress there resigned his seat mid-term to take an appointment from President Obama (!), and this set the stage for a special election.

This is one of your best commentaries, Jon.
It also makes me realize how lucky we are to have a Republican nominee like Doug Harmer, who is running for Congress right here in California on the same day that Hoffman will be on the ballot in New York. We have the ability to send a message by electing him on November 3rd!

If you are advocating against the Republican nominee then would it be okay for a CRP member to support Art Olivier if he ran for Governor under the Libertarian Party in 2010?
I did call the CRP to ask about policy, and I guess Jon is free to advocate as long as the candidate is not from California.

Can someone tell me why Kevin McCarthy supports Scozzafava?
Then again, why should I be shocked? He did support Doris Allen, Brian Setencich, and Brooks partial birth Firestone.

I think Matt Munson asks a pretty good question here, and one worth discussing.
