Arlen Specter, elected as a Republican Senator in Pennsylvania, today switched his party registration to Democrat.
I can't say I am shocked, given his embrace of President Obama's hard-left policies.
That said, Specter should follow the principled lead of Phill Gramm. Before being elected to the Senate, Gramm (of Texas) was a Congressman. Elected as a Democrat to the House, he decided to become a Republican, inspired by Ronald Reagan. But he felt that to switch mid-term was unfair to voters. So he resigned his seat, then re-registered Republican, and then ran and was -re-elected in the subsequent special election…

If Specter resigned, his vacancy would be filled by appointment (by Democratic governor Ed Rendell) not by a special election.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthony Adams follows this track.

With a filibuster proof majority, the Dems will permanently change this country, and the chances of reversing that are essentially ZERO.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: This will not end well.

Specter becoming what he has always been (a democrat) means that he felt he would have trouble against the conservative (Twoomey) in next year’s Republican primary. Things are lookin up!

oops – Pat Toomey, not “Twoomey” :)
