One of the few remaining GOP Assemblymembers to take an official position on Proposition 1A did so yesterday. Assemblyman Jim Nielson put out a release with this stinging rebuke of the ballot measure:
California cannot afford to continue with failed ‘tax, borrow and spend’ polices that have driven our state to the brink of fiscal insolvency. During this budget crisis a spending cap was passed and placed on the ballot, however it has been linked to billions of dollars of tax increase extensions. These additional taxes represent a poison-pill attached to this spending cap that I simply cannot support. Therefore, I will oppose Proposition 1A on the May ballot.
Adopting a concrete spending cap is essential for fixing California’s broken budget. This is a common-sense improvement that will require lawmakers to save — not spend — excess revenue in good times, to help ensure critical programs and public safety are not jeopardized in tough times. It must, however, be a real constitutional spending cap that does not cost California taxpayers more simply to enact such a reform.
As of today, the only three Assembly Republicans who are publicly supporting Proposition 1A are those legislators who voted to attach $16 billion in taxes to the measure — Anthony Adams, Roger Niello, and Mike Villines. Two-thirds of Senate Republicans and well over half of Assembly Republicans have come out against 1A.

Lets get serious here…the RINO party has not come out against 1A and all the related initiatives. We all know Arnold and his gang of tax lovers will promote TV, radio and other media to convince the sheep to vote for 1A and give teachers 9 billion more dollars with 1B. Trotting out a couple no name assembly members spouting the typical no tax mantra just does not cut it…you cannot trust this ilk anyway….
What is need is the RINO party to step to the plate and spend big time to defeat the Benedict Arnolds among them…..those republicans who love big government and vote for taxes.
