Bruce Herschensohn On Why We Need To Elect Chuck DeVore

I am pleased this morning to share a guest commentary from a very esteemed reader of the FlashReport, Bruce Herschensohn.  Herschenshon, who is a senior fellow at the Pepperdine University School of Public Policy, was for many, many years a commentator on KABC television in Los Angeles.  In 1992, he was the Republican nominee for United States Senate.  Herschensohn is widely considered to be one of the country’s leading experts on foreign policy issues — and a great mentor and friend to this website publisher.

Chuck DeVore:
A Leader We Need In The U.S. Senate

By Bruce Herschensohn

Chuck DeVore is not merely qualified for to be California’s next U.S. Senator; he has performed service for the United States throughout his adult lifetime and has done it magnificently.  I have known Chuck for decades now and I feel so strongly about him because he has served in those areas that I believe are the most important: national defense and foreign policy with his personal knowledge of the world.  He has traveled throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, and Central America; he worked in the aerospace industry for 13 years and helped develop the Arrow Anti-Ballistic Missile Program; he was a Reagan White House appointee in the Pentagon; he was awarded as being the Legislator of the Year by the California Veterans of Foreign Wars and not so incidentally, after 24 years since he first enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve, he retired from the Army National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel with honors.

His writing has been published in leading political journals and he has written a novel, “China Attacks” which has been acclaimed and has been a particularly well-read book in Taiwan.  It has been a book which (to his credit) been banned in the People’s Republic of China.

Added to all this is his political career from being City Commissioner for the City of Irvine to winning election to the California State Assembly in 2004 with reelection in 2006 and 2008 where he served until recently as Chief Republican Whip.

I sometimes feel guilty in just making a quick summarization of positions he has held and holds.  The future is more important — and Chuck is passionate about national defense, passionate about domestic energy production without reliance on foreign sources, passionate about winning the Global War on Terrorism — and when it comes to domestic affairs he is passionate about reducing taxes.

I want him to be California’s next U.S. Senator because in that position California would have a leader who would be a real leader in those things so very urgent for the people of this state and for the people of this nation.

You can find out more about Chuck DeVore and his campaign for U.S. Senate on his website.
