As the State GOP Convention begins, I wanted to get a late word in for my friend Mike Osborn, Chairman of the Ventura County Republican Party, who is running for the CRP’s Central Coast Vice Chairman position. He’s running unopposed, but yet is worthy of a shout-out. He’s certainly got my support, and I hope he has yours! Here is something he wrote for your perusal…
I am Mike Osborn, a candidate for Central Coast Regional Vice Chairman.
This was not a decision that I made lightly. I have been involved in California grass roots politics for over twenty years and know that if we are to save our state it will take hard work and sacrifice. I am prepared for both.
Today more than ever we find ourselves locked in a battle with a Democrat Party that cares nothing for the productive members of society and only tries to find more ways to bribe voters with promises of unearned prizes. The only thing that stands in the way of our being trampled by the Democrat tax machine is our Republican legislators. They can only save us if we can get them elected.
I have had a unique seat in this drama, last year, as the Chairman of the Ventura County Republican Party. We managed to pull out a win in what has become known as the most expensive legislative district race in California’s history. In fact it was the second most expensive district race in the country, exceeded only by a New York congressional campaign. We elected Tony Strickland and didn’t lose a single incumbent Assembly member or Congressman. Which is even more amazing considering the money and volunteers poured into our districts by the Obama/Clinton/Edwards/Kucinich machines. We lost our registration edge (we’re still investigating the phantom registrations) yet beat the Democrats in turnout in both the Primary and General.
In working this campaign I had the opportunity to work across county lines and came to appreciate the work of Paul Bruno, our outgoing Vice Chairman. Paul has been a great help to me and I want to return the favor. I believe together we can build an even stronger Central Coast, increasing Republican registration, building an agile volunteer force, and working on our vast untapped resources.
We have been given an excellent example of what our legislators can accomplish when they stick together and hold off democrat tax hikes. It’s up to us to send them some help.
I currently serve as the Chairman of the Ventura County Republican Party and have been re-elected twice without opposition. I spent four years on the CRP Resolutions Committee, and six years on the Rules Committee where I now serve as Chairman.
I look forward to seeing you all at the Convention.
I am Mike Osborn, a candidate for Central Coast Regional Vice Chairman and I ask for your vote.
