Ashburn, Cogdill, Maldonado

These three Republican Senators:  Roy Ashburn, Dave Cogdill, and Abel Maldonado all just vote to approve over $14 billion in new taxes, along with (of course) every Democrat.

It is a sad, depressing day indeed.  Horrible for taxpayers, and terrible for the Republican Party.

This is the worst day in CA’s long storied political history. All I can say is let the great tax revolt of 2009 begin.

    RECALL!

    Who is leading it?

Thank you Senators Maldonado, Ashburn and Cogdill for making my decision to re-register as Decline to State an easy one.

As a Libertarian, here’s my obligatory “I told you so”. But I’m certainly not gloating, I’m just depressed and pessimistic about the future here in California. I sincerely wish I could instead be congratulating Republicans on standing united and strong against tax hikes.

For many years now, the Republican Party’s best argument for voting for it (with the exception of certain principled individuals such as Tom McClintock) was that it was the lesser of two evils. Now it can’t even make that argument.

    Just pathetic.
