I was born in L.A. long after George Putnam had got his start, but he was still on T.V. broadcasting usually conservative opinion as I was a young man. He later went to back radio. To his credit he was on e of the first I heard talk about the impact of illegal immigration. Today George Putnam passed.
He was pioneer in the field and an L.A. Legend. Over 70 years in the entertainment/new biz. R.I.P.
Here is County Supervisor Mike Antonovich’s view on the patriot Putnam.

As a kid, I had to listen to George Putnam everyday on the way home from school with my grandmother. Then she turned him on at her house. It drove me crazy back then, but I think this daily “indoctrination” is part of what helped make me a conservative.

George Putnam spent nost of his broadcast reporting straight news,
along with fine colleagues like Hal Fishman and the amazing Stan
Chambers.
But when it was time to express his own political views, Putnam
clearly labelled them “One Reporter’s Opinion.”
Mr. Putnam understood the difference between News and Editorials
and respected his audience enough to always seperate the two.
Yes, he had lots of fans here in San Diego too, where many a roof-
top-mounted antenna brought him in clearly on KTTV or KTLA.
RIP to a giant. He was still doing an entertaining radio talk show
at the age of 93, and still full of optimism and energy. God Bless him.
