As a Jewish Republican, it’s kind of novel to be singled out by Governor Schwarzenegger in Yiddish, which is what happened a couple of days ago when the Governor participated in a video-conference interview with the editorial board of the San Diego Union Tribune. But I must admit to being honored to have two outstanding called-out ”colleagues" – KFI radio talk show hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou – great Americans. Longtime FR friend Chris Reed is a member of the U-T’s Editorial Board and blogged about a quip made by the Governor:
BONUS TIDBIT: The governor made clear he’s paying close attention to the media in the budget battle, and not just mainstream heavyweights like the Sac Bee and the L.A. Times. He said he hoped his recently aggressive push to sell his compromise budget as a "way out of the problem, solving it once and for all" would make Republican lawmakers more comfortable with his plan. If he gets them aboard, "then maybe there’s only out there John & Ken and Fleischman to do their little spiel, and maybe it’s not enough" to stop passage of a budget.
John & Ken being KFI 640 AM’s afternoon talk-show hosts, and Fleischman being Jon Fleischman, publisher of the FlashReport online news site.

Senator Jeff Denham has a great suggestion for the governor, state Democrat legislators and a group of self-proclaimed high-income earners calling themselves “Californian’s Sharing in the Solution”, who are all hot on higher taxes to solve the $15-plus billion budget:
“They should put their money where their mouth is and make a generous cash gift to the State’s general fund instead,” suggests Senator Jeff Denham (R-Merced).
Giving a gift to the State is easy to do. Simply write a check to the “State of California” with a note indicating you want the money to be credited to the State general fund and send it to:
Mike Genest, Director
California Department of Finance
State Capitol Room, Room 1145
Sacramento, CA 96814
California Government Code 16302 provides that if a donor designates a monetary gift to the State for the benefit of a fund or appropriation, the donation shall be credited accordingly.
