Rice Would Be Nice

Now that Democrats have conceded that the world is a scary place, and Obama can’t handle it alone, they have named Senator Biden as the VP/Man-Behind-the-Curtain for their ticket. And the Democrats are exactly right…the world is a scary place. Iran continues to be the biggest threat to peace in the Middle East, and while we’ve got them pinned down in an unwinnable two front war scenario with troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, Russia is taking full advantage of our situation by making a rush to control natural gas pipelines to Europe before winter sets in so they can hold the EU hostage in choice between freezing to death or capitulating to Russia’s geopolitical demands. Come January 2009, the White House is no place for amateurs or understudies.

This is why I’m keeping my fingers crossed that native Californian Condoleezza Rice will be named as Senator McCain’s running mate. It’s really tough for me not to gush about her, but she is amazing! She is brilliant, well-respected around the world, and understands international threats like no one else. She has all the charm and diplomatic demeanor that Americans could ever hope for in an international representative of our country, and she is a Stanford educated Californian, with all of the pioneer spirit that comes from living in the greatest state in the Union!

I say it’s time for the biggest state in the U.S. and the world’s 7th largest economy to be represented on the Presidential ticket! Condi for Vice President!

If McCain picked ANYONE with close ties to Bush, then he will have conceded the election.

Rice’s contributions to foreign policy have been anything but stellar.

McCain needs to be the anti-Bush. Anything less then he and the party will be doomed in the short term.

Sorry, Daniel, I must disagree. I don’t think Senator McCain has to be the anti-Bush; I think he needs to be the titanium-spined, brave man who stands up for what is right, like he has always been.

He didn’t make his mark by being the anti-anything. He made his mark by being FOR-America. If he continues to do that, and the party faithful can articulate that, then the election will go as it should, and the U.S. will be lead by a hero.

Now that’s something to look forward to!

Come on. McCAIN has close ties to Bush, and he is hardly conceding the election. By some recent measures, he is leading. To Jill’s point, I could not agree more. Rice would not only be nice, she would be outstanding; IF she wants the job.

The GOP must prepare for a post-Bush presidency. The party has lost its way and morphed into a party of corrupt big government.

This election will be about the economy. It was the GOPs almost solitary focus on Iraq that allowed the GOP to abandon its principles. A choice of Rice will be a signal of more of the same (which people DO NOT WANT), as well as a focus on Iraq, which most people don’t consider that big of a priority.
