Anderson: “Did so”

Assemblyman Joel Anderson’s office was quick to respond to my whiny post of yesterday, in which I indicated Senator Hollingsworth appeared to be the only area legislator to issue a statement on the Supreme Court’s Heller decision, and in which I further kinda chastised some unnamed legislative offices for not sending releases to bloggers.

This morning, Anderson’s office sent me its 2nd Amendment take of a few days ago.  To be clear, the Anderson folks send me press items very regularly (so no inclusion of them in the general whininess) … I just hadn’t seen this one:

Anderson Lauds High-Court Decision Protecting 2nd Amendment

Sacramento— Assemblyman Joel Anderson (R-El Cajon) issued a statement today praising the United States Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Wasghinton D.C.’s handgun ban.

I am pleased that the Supreme Court has overturned Washington D.C.’s unconstitutional ban on gun ownership,” said Assemblyman Anderson.

“The Second Amendment is a fundamental individual right. I will continue to fight on behalf of California gun owners in the State Legislature as liberal politicians continue their assault on our gun rights.”

California currently has two major anti-gun measures working their way through the legislature.

Assembly Bill 2062, which would impose new licensing regulations on handgun ammunition purchasers and vendors, was passed by the Senate’s Public Safety Committee on June 17. Assembly Bill 2235, which would impose unrealistic guidelines as to what would be considered a “safe” handgun in California, also passed the same Senate Committee on June 24. Assemblyman Anderson voted against both of these bills when they came before him on the Assembly floor.

Assemblyman Anderson also encouraged citizens across the state to contact their State Senator to voice their opposition to these bills.
