Term Limits End Run… More from York — all good news from where we sit!

This may be my favorite update yet from Anthony York over at Capitol Weekly…  He has put his hands on a copy of an e-mail sent out by the Los Angeles County Registrar.  The last paragraph is my favorite.  As a hack for the unions, I am sure that Labor Day weekend is supposed to be like Christmas for Fabian Nunez.  Yeah, not so much this weekend.  He may have to spend it working on his resume…

From York:

A couple more items. Last night, LA County elections chief Conny McCormack sent an email out to local government officials and other selected politicos. Attached was a copy of the Capitol Weekly story which posted yesterday morning and a comment from McCormack:

Heads up (and fyi re article below.) LA Co will finish our random sampling and report our petition numbers tomorrow. Our percentage of valid signatures looks to be 63-64% and I learned a few min ago that Sacramento and San Bernardino Counties just reported an even lower. Percentage of valid signatures. This means the initiative will not qualify with the random sample and the Constitutional deadline for full check signature qualificatioin is Sept 27….I expect this will be any exploding media story starting tomorrow and thru the weekend. I’m assuming you’ll be hearing from Speaker Nunez and other legislators re this situation…

Now, the process continues. The SOS still has not received numbers from LA. However, one note regarding the full tally, and whether it can be completed in 17 "working days." A spokeswoman for the Secretary of State said that nobody on the SOS staff can remember a time in which a full count was finished before the end of the 30 working day window. They recalled that several counts have indeed gone past that deadline. Doesn’t mean it NEVER happened, but nobody in the office can remember it happening, for what it’s worth.

She did add that such a count has probably never taken place under such politically-charged circumstances.

No math to check this time.  Sorry.
