Assembly Joint Resolution (AJR) 29 Congress urges Congress to pass and the President to sign H.R. 1592–the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (LLEHCPA).
The bill creates a new federal crime based on if it was committed is based on "the actual or perceived religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability of any person.”
In other words if some one is attacked at a restaurant because he was gay that can become a federal crime, but if he gets attacked for taking the piece of peach cobbler. That is not a federal crime
it also allows the federal government to interfere in states to see if they are punishing "hate" crimes sufficiently. This bill is opposed by pro-family groups.
Ironically the Los Angeles Times Magazine did an article several years ago that pointed out that Blacks and Hispanics were more likely to be charged with hate crimes in
Only one Assemblyman Joel Anderson and only one State Senator Dennis Hollingsworth stood up and voted against creating different classes of crimes and federal interference in states affairs.
Worse in the Assembly almost all Republicans voted for it, some co-sponsored it. In the Senate they abstained.
No that is something I hate. Republicans voting for federal interference into states and creating special classes of victims.

Mike…
I saw this in CRI’s email and I found it hard to believe, so I checked the votes. What is with our Republicans… are they just dumb, uninformed or sleeping? This is why the Liberals so easily advance their agenda… “our guys” fall all over themselves to help.
This is shameful.
