Based, at least in part, on questions raised on this blog about the performance of the CRP’s Victory Program, the CRP sent out the following email today. I anxiously await the thoughts of Mike Spence and the others who’ve joined in questioning the Victory program.

RE: California Republican Party Board of Directors Meeting:
December 8, 2006
Some people, through comments and other communications, have raised questions of the California Republican Party (CRP) Board of Directors they wanted addressed at our December Board Meeting. The Board of Directors met on December 8, 2006 to discuss these and other issues for almost 5 hours.
Board members present in Sacramento were: Duf Sundheim, Ron Nehring, Barbara Alby, Mark Pruner, Jerry Maltby, Jalene Forbis, Shawn Steel, Tim Morgan, Marty Wilson representing the Governor, Luis Buhler, Acquanetta Warren, Paul Bruno, and Jim Richardson representing the state legislature. Participating via teleconference was: Warene Wall, Tom Del Beccaro, Keith Carlson, Jane Parsons, and Republican Assembly Leader Mike Villines for part of the meeting.
A great deal of ground was covered at the meeting, and while it was decided by the Board to produce a comprehensive Analysis and Audit, as well as the 2006 Annual Report, which will fully cover the operations of the Victory committee, board members were provided information that addressed questions that have been raised.
In order to keep you factually informed, we have decided to send you what is in essence abbreviated minutes of the Board meeting with information which has been of question lately. Please look for a 2006 Annual Report that will be sent by years end, as well as an Analysis and Audit, which should be available in January 2007.
Phone Scripts:
Samples of the phone scripts used were handed out for Board members to review. The scripts showed the Republican ticket was mentioned in all phone scripts, and in certain cases individual candidates were mentioned if the calls were going into their areas. It was also noted there were “Monday Night for Tom” calls, “Tuesday Night for Tony”, etc.
None of the scripts were Governor only, as has been erroneously stated by some.
CRP Walk Pieces:
Each an every statewide constitutional candidate appeared on each and every walk piece.
CRP Mail:
Samples of the CRP mail pieces were distributed. Most had pictures of people representing typical Californians. Some had pictures of Angelides and others of the Governor. Again, it has been erroneously stated by some that the CRP mail had only the Governor’s picture or name in each piece, which is inaccurate.

Kudos to Angel Sanchez, Dave Morgan and Erin Sasse in Riverside County, as they were great about emphasizing the entire Republican ticket, and helping the local candidates at the Victory ’06 headquarters.
