Victoria Secret High School in The Antelope Valley.

Most people think of the Antelope Valley part of Los Angeles as conservative. Not so fast! The Antelope Valley Union High School District is allowing a high school senior drama project to produce "Cabaret" which will feature some high school student in lingerie performing seductive poses. What other kinds of poses are there in lingerie?

You have to admire the producer managing to get young women to perform in lingerie on school time. Maybe for a graduation project he can produce "Oh! Calcutta!" He may get an A for fulfilling his dream. But, what should school officials and teachers get that spend tax dollars on garter belts and prefer titillation to education?

You can see the story here. Sorry, no pictures the paper thought they were too racy.

Another article from World Net Daily is here.

    Good grief.

Cabaret is a Tony award winning Broadway musical with long-standing international acclaim. It was a spectacular hit.

Only one with the most prurient of interests would object to High School Seniors participating in its presentation.

Are we reading the article or just reacting to the post?

“…it will feature a chorus line of young performers, some of them high school students, dancing, attired in bras, teddies, foundation garments, garter belts and little else.”

Barry is right on. It is an adult play. It is not age appropriate.

What the author calls “little else” is actually a flesh-colored body stocking which professional dancers routinely wear when on stage.

Any dirty-old-man paying good money hoping to see some 18 year old’s private body parts will be deeply disappointed.

Man, if you want to sell tickets, you gotta get newspaper coverage.

Whatever the quality of production, the show still deserves an “A” for promotion.

Speaking of a free press, I haven’t seen any high school or community theatre show get the “free press” this one has.

Whether or not the cast is covered, the show’s story sure is!

I used to own theatres, and now I produce movies. If the producer of this show wants a job in publicity, have him contact me here in Hollywood.
