FlashReport on the Road: On the bus statewide with our GOP Nominees

Today and tomorrow, I will be traveling with some of our GOP nominees as they barnstorm around the Golden State visiting and motivating GOP volunteers in Victory 06 Centers started from Sacramento this morning and ending in San Diego tomorrow night – with a lot of stops in between.  I will be endeavoring to "live blog" as much as my fingers and my Blackberry will let me!  It should be a lot of fun, and I’ll look forward to bringing you some interesting observations and insights…  Today the GOP candidates traveling through the Central Valley (Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno and Bakersfield) include Liuetenant Governor nominee Tom McClintock, Controller nominee Tony Strickland, and Attorney General nominee Chuck Poochigian!  So check back to the FR blog page often throughout the weekend and check out my reports!  (On Sunday, Poochigian and Strickland will break off, but we’ll stick with McClintock into the Inland Empire and eventually down to San Diego!)

What are the candidates up to this weekend?  Well, you know what McClintock, Poochigian and Strickland are up to — here are some updates from other nominees:

From Julie Soderlund on the Governor’s campaign team:

Governor Schwarzenegger will spend Saturday visiting volunteers at Victory ’06 headquarters in Chico, Pleasanton, and Riverside. Victory ’06 is the largest, most sophisticated Republican grassroots get-out-the-vote effort seen in recent California political history. Through this program more than 60,000 volunteers will have made 3 million calls to California voters by election day. The goal of the Victory ’06 program is to elect Republican candidates across California. On Sunday, the Governor will have events in the Los Angeles area.

Check out www.joinarnold.com for the latest on the Governor’s campaign.

From Peggy Mew with the Mountjoy for United States Senate campaign:

We are now in the final push to Get Out The Vote on Election Day and Senator Dick Mountjoy, the US Senate Republican Nominee, is traveling statewide to encourage volunteers to keep up their voter outreach efforts.

If you haven’t already signed up to make phone calls and walk precincts this weekend, the time is NOW! Call your local Victory Volunteer headquarters today to find out how you can help Dick Mountjoy retire Diane Feinstein.

We want to thank the thousands of volunteers who are already involved in voter outreach and encourage you to mobilize your family and friends to volunteer  in the final days before November 7. Dick Mountjoy will be elected to the US Senate because  of your energy and commitment.

Saturday Senator Mountjoy will be visiting headquarters.  Sunday he will be visiting three Churches and performing a wedding ceremony for his sister in law in the afternoon.  Monday he will be visiting headquarters and attending a rally in Brea.

Here is more detail on Senator Poochigian’s weekend plans from Seth Unger with his campaign:

Senator Chuck Poochigian, candidate for California Attorney General, will be campaigning throughout the Central Valley on Saturday, November 4.  The bus tour will include joint stops in Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno, and Bakersfield with Senator Tom McClintock, candidate for Lieutenant Governor, and former Assemblyman Tony Strickland, candidate for Controller.  Senator Poochigian will also make campaign stops in Modesto and Visalia: View Poochigian’s Saturday campaign stops here.

On Sunday, Poochigian will be touring Southern California.  He’ll start off campaigning with the Vietnamese community in Orange County with Assemblyman Van Tran, then will come back through Los Angeles, and have a stop in Santa Clarita.  Visit: www.pooch4ag.com for more information.

From Jennifer Kerns of the Steve Poizner for Insurance Commissioner campaign:

Steve Poizner heads into the final weekend of the campaign for Insurance Commissioner bolstered by nearly 35 newspaper endorsements from newspapers across the state of Califonia —- including the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Sacramento Bee, the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Riverside Press Enterprise, the Bakersfield Californian and the San Bernardino Sun.  As a final insult to Cruz Bustamante, Poizner also scored the endorsement of the Fresno Bee (Cruz’s hometown paper) as well as garnering the support of La Opinion.

Poizner enters the final weekend with a slight lead over Bustamante, according to a Field Poll released this week.  But every vote is needed to topple sitting Lieutenant Governor Bustamante.

This week, you can hear Steve as he continues to burn up the talk radio airwaves with appearances on KFI and KABC radio in Los Angeles, KMJ radio in Fresno, KOGO radio in San Diego, and other stations throughout the state as we approach Election Day.

And don’t forget:  If you Cruz….You Lose! www.YouCruzYouLose.com

As of press time we had not hear back from the campaigns of Treasurer nominee Claude Parrish and Secretary of State nominee Bruce McPherson.  Hopefully if they are inclined, someone from their staffs could post up their weekend plans as a comment to this blog post.

In closing, make a difference — volunteer this weekend to help out the GOP ticket!  And don’t forget to check the FR Blog through the weekend from updates ‘from the campaign trail’ — yeah!
