FR friend Matt Rexroad is one of California’s most capable political consultants. He has worked in many capacities in political campaigns and in government offices. Currently he is a partner with Meridian Pacific, and in that capacity, he is playing a very hands-on role in GOP campaigns. Most recently, Matt has become involved in helping to quarterback some major independent efforts to help Tony Strickland become the next Controller. This is in addition to his direct efforts on behalf of Bruce McPherson’s campaign for Secretary of State, and a host of other conservative causes.
Believe it or not, while he doing all of this, and being a great husband and father, Matt is on the City Council of his home town of Woodland, and is running a hard-fought race for Yolo County Supervisor. His platform is one of property rights, fiscal responsibility, and open government. He has earned the endorsements of all three local newspapers – the Sacramento Bee, the Woodland Daily Democrat and the Davis Enterprise.
Matt also has the support of numerous other Democrats in the community as well. Current Mayor Dave Flory and School Board President Carol Souza Cole are supporting Matt because he gets things done.
His television spot (which is attached below) hits the same values you would expect from someone like Matt – Leadership by example. By most accounts Matt is about to beat incumbent Supervisor Frank Sieferman by a comfortable margin.
This race was about Conaway Ranch and the abuse of eminent domain by the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. Matt is on the right side of that. Now the race is about to become about something else.
With the election right around the corner, the unions have targeted Rexroad for defeat. They figure that the symbolism of ‘taking down’ one of the GOP’s most high-profile and successful operatives in his personal quest for office has a bigger impact on a statewide level than just who is one of five Yolo County Supervisors.
So we here at the FlashReport are issuing a call to action:
If you live anywhere near Yolo County, pledge at least one night of phone-banking or a day of precinct walking to help Matt. His victory would be a win for all of us.
