GIULIANI CAMPAIGNS FOR CONSERVATIVES
When Steve Schmidt, campaign manager for Arnold Schwarzenegger, says he is going to help the down-ticket GOP candidates, he doesn’t mess around. He picked up the phone and called his good buddy, former New York Mayor Rudy Giulini. Fast forward a few weeks later at Schmidt has Giuliani out here in the Golden State, not campaigning for Arnold Schwarzenegger, but rather headlining a major Orange County fundraiser for three of the GOP’s statewide candidates, Tom McClintock, Chuck Poochigian and Tony Strickland (is it any coincidence that the ersatz Presidential candidate happens to be helping out the three most conservative candidates on the ticket?). Above to the right, Strickland greets Giuliani while Tom McClintock looks on.
The event was held at the post Center Club located within the Orange County Center for the Performing Arts in Costa Mesa. There, before a crowd of nearly a hundred guests, Giuliani was in rare form as he entertained the crowd, but also made it clear that he is committed to Republican victories not only in the Empire State but here in Golden State. Over $100,000 was raised collectively for the candidates for Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and Controller. Most of the attendees were able to get their photo with America’s Mayor, and a few guests were even seen getting their books autographed.
I had an opportunity to chat with Tony Strickland after the event — and he was really pumped up after the successful fundraiser. "Rudy Giuliani is a fixture in American politics and a symbol for capable and inspired leadership in America. I know that Tom and Chuck, along with myself, were quite humbled that someone of his stature would make the trip to California on our behalf."
TOM MCCLINTOCK MAKES CALLS AT LOCAL GOP VICTORY HQ
Just hours before appearing alongside Rudy Giuliani at the event highlighted above, Tom McClintock, the GOP nominee for Liuetenant Governor stopped by the California Republican Party’s Irvine Victory 6 Headquarters where he joined dozens of volunteers in making phone-banking calls to Republicans. "McClintock’s visit to our headquarters was a big hit with our volunteers," said Orange County Victory 6 Director Barrett Tetlow, who is on leave from Assemblyman Van Tran’s office to work on GOTV for the Republican ticket.
TOMORROW WE WILL BE RELEASING OUR LIST OF BILLS THAT THE GOVERNOR SHOULD VETO
This is your last chance to drop us a note and make your suggestions for bills that should make our list. We’ll be keeping track of which one’s are vetoed, and giving the Governor a "batting average" on how is doing! Write to us here.
There are a few key stories in the news that you do not want to miss:
* THANK YOU Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has announced that he will be using his veto pen on Senator Sheila Kuehl’s socialized heath-care bill.
* Congressman Darrell Issa STEPS UP to voice some cercerns about the way that the Administration is handling the war in Iraq.
* The ONGOING FEDERAL PROBES of Congressman Jerry Lewis continue to make headlines. The FR doesn’t know if Lewis is a crook, and believe that he should get the benefit of the doubt. That said, our position all along is that he should be ASHAMED that he has not used his position as Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee to shut-down earmarks, and reign in federal spending.
* Question of the day? If you are the Mayor of LOS ANGELES, why do you travel to SAN FRANCISCO to endorse your own party’s nominee for Governor? Is VILLARAIGOSA ASHAMED?
* The FlashReport calls for the Governor to VETO AB 523 — the KOCE BOONDOGGLE BILL. Read about that here.
Have a great day!
