The November Ballot, besides the candidates, looks like…

Secretary of State Bruce McPherson last week issued a press release (see attachment) listing out the ballot measures that will appear on the November ballot, along with their order and numbering.  The first group, measures 1A – 1E are all part of the Infrastructure Borrowing Package (a.k.a… the ‘even though California takes in well over $100,000,000,000.00 (that’s over a hundred BILLION) a year we are going to borrow even more money rather than (gasp!) spend 5-10% of this massive budget each year on infrastructure needs’ package).

Here they are.  Dan Weintraub of the SacBee lists them as well, with a bit more of a discription.  Of course there is more detail in the attached release.

Prop. 1A – SCA 7 Transportation Funding Protection.
Prop. 1B – SB 1266. Highway Safety, Traffic Reduction, Air Quality, and Port Security Bond Act of 2006.
Prop. 1C – SB 1689. Housing and Emergency Shelter Trust Fund Act of 2006.
Prop. 1D – AB 127. Kindergarten-University Public Education Facilities Bond Act of 2006.
Prop. 1E – AB 140. Disaster Preparedness and Flood Prevention Bond Act of 2006. The $4 billion flood control bond.
Prop. 83 – Sex Offenders. Sexually Violent Predators. Punishment, Residence Restrictions and Monitoring.
Prop. 84 – Water Quality, Safety and Supply. Flood Control. Natural Resource Protection. Park Improvements.
Prop. 85 – Waiting Period and Parental Notification Before Termination of Minor’s Pregnancy.
Prop. 86 – Tax on Cigarettes.
Prop. 87 – Alternative Energy. Research, Production, Incentives. Tax on California Oil.
Prop. 88 – Education Funding. Real Property Parcel Tax.
Prop. 89 – Political Campaigns. Public Financing. Corporate Tax Increase. Contribution and Expenditure Limits.
Prop. 90 – Government Acquisition, Regulation of Private Property.

I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more on all of these in the months to come..

At first glance it looks like I will be voting YES on 83 & 85 and NO on everything else. Who is the drunken sailor that put that list of spending and new taxes together? GEEEZ! Is Prop 90 an anti KELO prop? If so, I’ll vote YES on that too.

The only one I am unsure about is Prop. 1B. I will probably be opposing everything else except 1E, 83, 85, and 90.
