My Assemblyman, Chuck DeVore, has told me that he will be “elsewhere” tomorrow night, but NOT honoring ‘El Presidente de Mexico’ when he is in Sacramento.
Will others be joining in this silent protest of Fox?
If you hear of other legislators who won’t be there tonight, let me know or post a comment!
[Update: I have been told that Senator Tom McClintock will also be ABSENT from the Vincente Fox Speech… ]

I’d like to see the entire GOP caucus boycott the Fox speech.

McClintock yesterday said he’d be boycotting the Fox address.
No legislator, certainly no Republican, ought to be present to listen to this man try to harangue and browbeat us into accepting and providing more benefits for the citizens of Mexico he’s exported here.

Good for you, Chuck. I’d prefer counting my sox to listening to Fox!

Alex – Fox hasn’t “exported” his citizens here. But his failed presidency has provided no incentive for them to make their fortunes in their homeland. I’m no fan of career politicians, but Fox had the chance to get real reforms and squandered his political capital instead. He left the corrupt PRIistas in charge of the bureaucracy, and therefore, nothing changed.

Assemblyman Haynes will not be present.

Elected officials should defend the people’s house. If you had an unwelcome visitor to your home you wouldn’t leave it. I doubt he’s checking the blog. Put on red, white and blue tie and tell el presidente you are not going to cut and run on this issue.

Well, if electeds are prepared to throw tomatoes, that’s one thing. Otherwise, a boycott is a great way to send a message – if not to Fox, then to constituents.
