Howdy there FR gang, this is my first post in Bloggerdom so go easy please. I’ve greatly enjoyed viewing this site and really appreciate Jon inviting me to be your Nor Cal ‘correspondent’, it’s a great site to participate in. So let’s have some fun.
Last Thursday on the Assembly floor was "take your child to work day". At the end of session we were informed that Monday would be a "Check-In" only day, instead of a regular session where we could process the 40 or so bills that are on the file at that point. We were aware that the so called Great American Boycott was coming up Monday, [personally I don’t see anything Great or American about it but hey….] and we were not ‘informed’ why there would be no session. The fearless Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy (pictured) stood up and cut to the chase on the issue, [those exploits you can find on the FR in previous posts] and it was beautiful. There was noticable consternation from the ‘other side of the aisle’ as to Dennis’ comment while some of them marched out of the room. I liked his idea of undocumented legislators coming in to do the work that the Democrat legislators would not do on Monday, a non-holiday.
Interesting to note that 64 or so did ‘Check-Into-Cash’ in the Assembly side while only 7 or so did not accept per diem. No floor session was held, and most of the committee meetings were canceled. You can read the newspaper articles listing members reasons made for how everyone was ‘working’ anyway. Yeah, whatever. The work of the Legislature, the crumbling highways and levees, still awaits.
Perhaps we should declare the "Boycotting of America" day as "Take A Democrat Legislator To Work Day". Warning: block out the Cal Channel from your TV at home that day lest your child witness the legislators doing the "people’s work".

Great post, great to have you on board.
The Cal-Channel is already blocked on my TV, as I won’t have my five-year-old witnessing the rape of the taxpayers.
Glad you’re in Sacto…and glad you’re now on the FR!

Doug…welcome aboard…As we spoke on the phone….leave the high brow stuff to the others…as a farmer, dad, and as legislator with guts to have a lava lamp in his office, you have so much more to bring to the table that will make this site even better. Let you humor come through… btw…I’m sure I saw you at the Dead show at the Cow Palace in ’82…
