Today I am pleased to announce a new addition to the FlashReport Team — Nicholas Romero! For those of you who don’t know Nick (pictured to the right) , he is currently a Field Representative for Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, and has been a leader in youth politics – most notably with Young Americans for Freedom (I am an alumni of YAF myself, having served as State Chairman from 1990-93 and on YAF’s National Board from 1992-95). Nick is a fine conservative — and a smart guy with a keen eye! Recently I reached out to Nick to ask him if, from time to time, he would like to serve as the FlashReport’s first Guest Editor! I am happy to say that Nick not only said yes, but was quite enthusiastic!
Now, "What is a Guest Editor," you ask?
Every morning, there is a ton of work done on the FR website, culling through literally dozens of websites in order to then format them for the main page. There are some mornings where it is really tough for me to get this done – either because I have a work-related meeting that is in the early morning (thus I would have to get up SUPER DUPER early to do the site), or because I am on a vacation. After diligently updated this site EVERY DAY since October first, with the exception of the week between Christmas and New Years, I have called up reinforcements! As Guest Editor, Nick will be able to feature guest columns of his choosing, in addition to the important task of choosing which news stories, columns and editorial appear on the main page!
If you have any thoughts or advice for Nick as he starts his new task, you can e-mail him here. You can read more about him by clicking through his name at the top of the main page any day that he is guest editing.
As for my daily commentary – I will continue to write those when I can, even on days when Nick is the guest editor. Otherwise I will be tapping one of our esteemed FR weblog contributors to pen a commentary.

Congrats Nick on your new part time gig here at Flashreport. You are a rising star in the party. Irvine is fast becoming the center of the conservative blogging universe in the state with Jon, Hugh Hewitt, myself and others.

I can’t wait to see your columns Nick. If you haven’t seen any of Nick’s work in the past let me tell you that he is definitely an up and coming articulate voice for the conservative movement.

Nick…this place is nuts…and from what I can tell..you’ll fit right in. Some try to make this a starchy high brow site…but Barry and I do our best to bring it down.

Looking for the best pinch-hitter he could find, Jon natually looked to YAF, and found just that.
Congrats Buddy.

Once a YAFfer, always a YAFfer. Welcome, Nick! This is one Cali expat’s first look at CA political news and “chisme” (that’s gossip for all you gabachos) each day.
