In the post immediately below this one, I talk about the newest hire of the California Republican Party, Patrick Dorinson. Dorinson replaces Karen Hanretty, who did a great job in that difficult post. Here is what she has to say:
I know that Patrick’s resume is going to raise some eyebrows, particularly in light of the Susan Kennedy appointment. What I can offer to those who know me as a committed conservative and voice of Republican principles is that I am relieved to know Patrick is taking over the helm of the communications effort at the California Republican Party. For those who have called and emailed me the past couple of months and stopped me in passing to ask who will hold the Democrats accountable in my absence, I can assure you that “the new guy” is going to do right by the Republican Party. I can say that with confidence because I know he believes that Republicans and the issues they stand for are what will make California strong.
Different people with different viewpoints and life experiences can arrive at the same conclusion. My favorite “road to Damascus” story is that of former Congressman Jim Rogan. In his book “Rough Edges,” Rogan explains how a former delegate to the Democratic National Convention who was inspired by Bill Clinton to go to law school came to be a Republican – and one who helped impeach Clinton!
I can’t tell you that Patrick Dorinson is going to have the opportunity to impeach any Democrats, but he can shine a light on their mischievous deeds and help get the word out about why Republican principles offer better solutions to the problems California faces. And he will do it with wit, intelligence, and great style.
Welcome to the Party, Patrick."

Someone new may be taking over her duties at the California Republican Party, but it is impossiable to “Replace” Karen Hanretty.
